Ok this is a serious one. Nothing about loose battery doors, or screens that don't measure up to other devices. I've been noticing that my Atrix will just loose its H+, EDGE, whatever connection out of nowhere. I'm in a good at&t area, and never noticed this with any other device i've had in the past. It just looses all the bars, and a red cirecle comes up? I really noticed it when I was listening to sirius radio, and I lost the connection a few times, this is why! Ok seriously, WTF motorola and at&t? First you BS us into believing this thing is pulling down 4G speeds, when its bairly crawling on 3G , and then I have to deal with a HOT potato phone getting hot while I'm using it for minimal tasks, and now I'm really noticing that the phone is just straight up loosing its connection to the network!

Anyone else experiencing this wonder feature on they're New Atrix?

With the numerous issues you're reporting, it sounds like that unit is defective. Take it back and get it exchanged.

Mine doesn't get unusually hot, never looses signal even in marginal areas but does run slow on "the nations fastest mobile broadband network".

You won't fix the slow 3G speeds, but you may be able to eliminate the others with a device swap.

I don't get the red circle but I do get an occasional drop off of data while still have voice coverage. The "H+" is still there but the arrows are greyed out and either I wait for it regain connectivity (I don't do this often, since it usually takes longer than a couple of min) or I reboot/airplane mode on then off it, to get it going again. Very irritating. This may be the issue I seem to have with Google Maps in which a portion of the map doesn't readjust after a zoom. That problem is incredibly annoying because if I'm using Google Maps, I'm probably trying to get somewhere. At that very moment.

I posted in another thread, maybe about a week ago, that I was having the same problem. 4 bars, then red circle with a line through it, then back to 3 or 4 bars. It happened in areas where my previous phones had no problems with 3g reception. I spoke with AT&T, exchanged the sim card, had new signals sent to the phone, etc...nothing worked. At that point, I exchanged the phone, and the second phone had the same issues.

I ended up getting rid of the phone after about a week and picked up the Inspire.

Yup...that's what's going on with mine! I really love the Form Factor of the Atrix, and really like the device as a whole! But I may just do what u did and return it, I would go for the inspire, buy I have a vzw account also, and I may or may not end up with a Thunderbolt, which is similar as they are both HTC. I will give it a week or so, and see how it goes. Otherwise back to the BB Torch, with my Android flavor coming from the BIG Rip off, BIG RED....LOL!

I had to return it as well for this issue. Happened on Wifi too home, office, and other places didn't matter. Signal would drop for couple of secs and come right back. From what I've read others have had similar issues. I'll try it again after some updates and see if it fixes some of these problems.

I'm going to be returning the Atrix tomorrow! It did it like 5 times tonight. And I kept losing my signal with Sirius Radio earlier as well...non stop, couldn't even get through a song! This is very very disappointing I must say. I really thought at&t had stepped it up, and was ready to move out of that BIG Fruits shadow. However, a problem like this is just to important to over look. The Inspire for $99 looks like a much much better value. I'll be going back to my Blackberry on at&t for right now, and be waiting to see what vzw and Sprint have in store for the 2nd quarter. at&t, u have really missed the Boat this time....1st we got fake 4G, now we get major connectivity issues! Dissatisfied, and Disappointed are 2 words that come to mind!

I really liked the phone too. The data problem was my only complaint.

The same thing started happening to me with the atrix. The first week was great, but the last 2 days things have fallen apart....loosing service, getting hot, now won't connect to the wifi without problems, and getting real laggy the more I do with it.

I am sadly exchanging the atrix for an inspire this afternoon. I really wanted to love the atrix since it has so many new features, but it really is not working for me.

Well, I just exchanged my Atrix because of a faulty flash. The rest of the phone worked perfect! got the new one last night and am having the reception issues. It's only happened once. but that is enough after reading this thread. full reception to red circle...WTF?

Yea I just have not had time to return it yet, probably take care of it this weeked...However, reception issue seems to be getting worse. I dropped 3 calls today alone, and have noticed thta RED CIRCLE alot the last 2 days. I'm really pissed to be honest. I really love the form factor of this phone, and just about every thing else. But reality has set in, and it's just not going to work out with problems like this. So I will be ordering a Thunderbolt tomorrow for my personal line on VZW, and be going back to my Blackberry on at&t as soon as I return the Atrix. Oh Well!!!

does this seem like a software or hardware defect???

I don't know what to do, on my second atrix, don't want to exchange another

These days u just never know! But this a problem that's just to Big of a risk to take by keeping it IMO. Plus i've had alot of lag on the phone the last couple of days as well, so when you couple a few of these issues together, it makes for an annoying experience with the phone. Maybe they can work these kinks out in the coming weeks, along with really turning H+ on, and all would be good on all accounts. But like this, id say skip the Atrix this second and hold on to that upgrade. Or give the inspire a shot!

Hi,

I get the same problem with my Bell Atrix. I also have noise suppression enabled.

Symptom 1: randomly losing signal (H+ and cellular) and getting red circle. (reboot required)

Symptom 2: after exiting a dead zone (Montreal underground Metro), network wont hook back on. I have enable then disable airplane mode.

As far as speed, I get ~3194 kbps down and 57 kbps up... It's kinda sucking.

I would really love some more information on this. I have been experiencing this since getting the ATRIX in february. I kept hoping it would get fixed by a software update but sadly it has not. Unfortunetly I can't exchange mine any more since I got the moisture stickers wet. I would like to know though if this is a att network issue or hardware issue.

Any advice?

I've had the ATRIX since it came out and only recently had the network issue some of you have described. Bars and arrows would go grey and I would have to wait until they turned blue before being able to access online content. The common remedy that I have been hearing on multiple forums is to turn on/off airplane mode. After reseting the phone to factory and doing pretty much everything except swapping out the sim card, I think that I may have found the solution. I have disabled every single auto-update on every single app that I have installed, even the factory ones. Four hours in and so far I haven't lost my network connectivity once! Hope this helps because god knows this problem is pain stackingly annoying.

I always have this same experience after using it for a few months. Signal dropped and shown stop cross bar icon. Even sometimes it shown strength signal bar but I could not make any outgoing call, so I expected I could not receive incoming calls neither. While at the same position and same place, my son's regular phone (not smart phone) did not have this same type of problem. No matter what I tried... reboot, take off the battery, but the phone still failed frequently. I saw there is another website that many people having this problem, then they flash ROM update. This is something scary to do, but I might have to try it since I am fed up with this problem on Atrix.
