Trying to decide ipad2 or xoom for the wife...

Does the xoom have gorilla glass?

How does it charge?

Battery replacement?

HDMI, need any extra cord?

Expandable memory?

wireless printing?

Word processing?

Dropbox app work?

What are the apps coming to make this tablet better?

Creating power point presentations?

Mirriring?

These are the ?'s the wife asked..She wants the ipad 2 and I want her to get the xoom...

Charge- proprietary cable
Battery replacement- no, not removeable
hdmi- just need a micro hdmi cord
memory- micro sd card slot, not enabled yet (might ship enabled on the wifi, not sure)
wireless printing- yup, there are a few apps
word processing/powerpoint- also a few options, I prefer documents to go
dropbox- don't use it but believe that it works
apps- uh... probably a lot coming since there are quite a few honeycomb tablets coming out.

You didn't ask, but playon works for netflix and hulu, and amazon video on demand works in the browser.

Battery is replaceable by motorola for an undecided price. Battery charges in a few hours and easily lasts for 10 with the screen on.

Does verizon honor the 14 day trial period? If so how much is the restocking fee? I think cell phones are $35.00

I thought I read the HDMI port you need the dock to get HDMI signal out, not only just using a mini HDMI cable. hey, I could be wrong since I don't have a xoom yet.

Is that a universal thing? Like does that work at all stores, all cards, etc?

It's not an universal thing. Check your credit card benefits. Some cards has such protection, or extended warranty automatic enrolled (Capital One, Amazon/Chase card, American Express).

For sure all Amex card has this return protection program. If you return a merchandise but the store won't take it back within 3 months, Amex will take it up and reimburse you up to $300. If the store will take it back but charge you re-stocking fee, Amex will reimburse you that fee too (also up to $300).

I can vouch for the Dropbox usage on the XOOM. I use it to organize my school work and quickly add files to the XOOM.

I have a Micro-HDMI cord (6ft) I purchased through Amazon for like $8 dollars. Works great with any HDMI receiving device. The image is mirrored onto the TV, so you don't have to struggle with the touch interface to use it in HDMI mode.

FYI: no the SD card slot did not ship enabled on the Wifi only version.
