Now Optimus 3D became Thrill 4G for AT&T officially. But HTC just announced Evo 3D for Sprint with similar 3D features. I didn't expect HTC follow LG this quickly to make direct 3D competitor.

HTC EVO 3D vs LG Thrill 4G: specs comparison - Phone Arena

The guys on this page seem to prefer Evo 3D mainly due to qHD screen and 1Gb ram. But they fail to notice that Thrill has dual channel memory bus, which is partially responsible for its great performance along with dual core OMAP4 processor. Also dual core 8660 snapdragon has to work harder for qHD screen than Thrill and early testing for Pyramid indicates its not performing as well as Tegra2. I'm not sure if Evo 3D has 4G WiMax or not. Thrill has HSPA+ in AT&T. Both should be great phone for gaming. What do you think?

i think the thrill is the better bet because of the dual memory

Exactly! That's pretty big. People are just drawn to the amount of RAM, but often overlook what kind of memory bus it has. Evo 3D folks tout 1Gb RAM and qHD screen. But that higher resolution is probably hampering the performance of dual core snapdragon compared to OMAP4 in Thrill. Also we don't know yet if that qHD in Evo 3D is with pentile pixels or not.

Yep couldn't have said it better

This result just came up on our phandroid. Wow, those Sprint, HTC folks jumped all over here to rave about Evo 3D. To me, this test is seriously flawed for two reasons.
First of all, they compared 1.5Ghz 8660 snapdragon to others all clocked at 1.0Ghz. I don't know why they bumped it to 1.5Ghz from 1.2Ghz. If others are scaled up to 1.5Ghz (which I'm sure is possible), tegra2, omap4 are still faster.
Secondly they used mockup unit made for 8660 with pure stock android while others had all the bloatwares, skins from manufacturers. So this is not an indication of actual Evo 3D performance.

Another thing that none of them seem to realize is that OMAP4 supports dual channel memory bus in Optimus 3D, while Evo 3D still has single channel memory. The Exynos processor in upcoming SGS2 will also have dual channel 1Gb, LPDDR2 memory too. This boosts not only graphic performance but also productivity scores. Not sure if snapdragon 8660 is capable of it or not.

Both Nvidia and TI is almost ready to put out Tegra3, OMAP5 which will again take quantum leaps in performance. I don't think Qualcomm can keep up with them. They came out with 3rd gen dual core snapdragon nearly 6 months later than tegra2.

The Evo 3D's qHD screen is RGB not pentile. And from recent reviews and comparisons, the Evo 3D has a better 3D effect due to it's sharpness than the LG Thrill (Optimus 3D), but the Thrill has more access to 3D stuff out of the box. Also I have heard of Evo 3D being able to show depth and pop out images, which is exactly what I was looking for, but the Thrill only does depth from what I read.

I have the Evo 3D and the 3D camera is awesome. It mostly does depth but you can use it for pop out too. 3D music videos looked insanely great on the phone! I watched some 3D videos recorded on various devices on YouTube. The Evo 3D test videos looked great, the LG Optimus 3D videos looked really great, but the Optimus 3D's looked boring, less colorful (or more "natural" if that's what you call it), and one video that recorded with it had a balloon being blown up into the camera, and it didn't even pop out. I'm assuming this is because the Thrill's cameras are only capable of depth 3D.

It's good that you like Evo 3D's 3D camera performance. Early reviews indicate its camera is really great. That's good for HTC that is not particularly known for good cameras. But I'm looking at Optimus 3D more as regular super-phone as I'm not so interested in 3D stuffs just yet. I bet that its OMAP4 coupled to dual channel memory will perform games, videos better than Evo 3D.

Ok, I'll believe that. And I'm not sure but I think I read that there are 3 games in 3D that come preloaded on the phone and that at launch Gameloft will have 4 more 3D games available to download for free. Is this right?
