Help Possible eavesdropping - htc incredible - long post

I hope this is not the case however is it possible that your wife has already decided to split from you but doesn't have the balls to do it and is trying to create a situation to provide her an easier exit.

Sorry but the whole bugged phone and eaves dropping thing is a bit like something out of a book or film.

Then again, what does she do in the army and what do the people she works near do? Hmmm....???(reaching for my silver foil hat).

Don't know about where you are but here you can report nuisance calls and even unknown numbers get recognised and noted by the authorities. The only catch is that whoever it turns out to be(even family) MUST be prosecuted if an offence has been committed. You don't get to let them off the hook.

By any chance are you from the Hartford, CT area? Have you had Molly Maids as a service?

The first thing you want to do is stop using bluetooth. Then get your home swept just to make sure. Then google cell phone spy that's the software that allows stalkers and a$$holes to listen in on conversations, steal all of your texts and remotely turn your phone on and use it as a bugging device when it's not in use.

Molly Maids are spying on customers?

There are snooping apps available. Since the phone is a replacement, and supposedly a refurb, it is possible that the phone was just reboxed and never checked. I received 2 reboxed (and rewrapped) phones from a TMO subsidiary store, that had someone else's contact list and various other info on them.

The OP could have just run into a malicious person who just wants to make trouble for someone. If it wasn't the OP, then whoever else got the phone would have the same problem.

The software DOES exist.

If you havent already, change any and all passwords you have. ANY AND ALL!

good luck w/ the wife. This post is beyond my level of expertise. Sorry.

I recommend a FULL data wipe/format. Then Install Wave Secure or Lookout.

Also, sounds like maybe the wife could be lying just to try and "catch" you.

Too many variables here. Again, Good Luck.

women will find out one way or another. even if its a friend that put some crazy idea in their head they will find out!

Also, make sure your blocking calls that block caller ID. Verizon can give you the *## code to enter...

do this on BOTH phones...

This will stop anyone from calling that is blocking their ID.

Unfortunately, it MUCH more likely that this is either someone one of you know and is using their knowledge to make these calls or your wife is in on it.

edit:

LOL, never even saw this was a necro :/

Biggest load of crap that I've smelled in a long time. Everyone sucked into this conversation should be ashamed of themselves for believing one word. Dude was a liar looking for attention. Of course I should have started this post with IMHO.

You'd be naive to think this isn't possible. There are definitely apps out there that can record your phone conversations, text messages, keystrokes, etc., and there have been for decades. Putting this on an android phone is not anything special.... in fact it's probably easier than on a computer because there are less safeguards. Hell, you can even remote activate a phone's mic now so that someone can listen in to what's going on around you, even if the phone is off (as long as the battery is in). I'm studying security management in college and this is one area we spend a lot of time on.

If the phone wasn't wiped when it was "refurbished" then any app on there from the previous owner would still be on there when he got it. This would also explain the data usage because this information is uploaded to a website. Hell, here's a link to a program that can do exactly this:

MobiStealth - Monitor Kids, Catch Cheating Spouse, Android Smart Phones. Monitoring software for Mobile Phones.

I'm not saying its not possible I'm saying that the OP is full if crap. The entire point if that type of software is to catch someone you know doing something they aren't supposed to be doing or steal from someone something that you find valuable without the persons knowledge. Placing software on a phone simply to break up someones marriage that you don't know is a ridiculous at best. If the OP came on and said my credit card numbers, bank accounts, or even password have been stolen, I think some on got them from my phone, THEN I'd be more apt to believe it. Not this.

I know this post is ancient, but.... Isn't it just as likely someone loaded a custom image to that device and a full wipe would not help?

couldn't someone have just as easily modified the operating system and returned the phone with their bug already in it?

I understand that people may not believe the OP, but with my limited tweaking abilities even I could achieve that task. My biggest question is where is that phone. I must agree the lack of follow up to this story makes me not believe the majority of it. We must all remember this is the Internet and it is full of weirdos, hell, we are here, ain't we?
