Apply through bootstrap and mount system as a precaution... Also expect a 3-5 minute wait on startup..

If I load up the rooted GB that has the recovery working in it, and then it gets deodexed, am I going to have to reflash and start over again? Or is the deodexing just for themes/ROMS and it will deodex and flash ROM/theme at the same time. I can't remember.

Maybe, but I don't feel like trying it I don't believe it will work though, if it did, I don't think P3Droid would have called for someone to deodex it and shoot him a link.

At this point it would be just for themes, as I'm sure the ROM devs would have pre-deodexed ROMs when released.

I keep getting an error. I can pull the system apps and framework apps, but when I go to deodex, I get an error, I think xUltimate needs to be updated due to opcode changes (might need modified smali.jar and baksmali.jar).

Yeah im not sure xultimate will work as it stands. He mentioned something on the op for xultimate that it was updated for froyo so I would assume it needs to be updated for gb

Ok so a little update on what I've been doing. .
I doedexed the ROM using a rom kitchen for HTC phones. But I figured these files and what I need to do would be pretty generic for android phones in general. So I did all that and I booted up very nicely. Started checking everything out and I'm like wow... did I actually do this? I had to go check and sure enough all apps in /system/app read apk. no odex files anymore. Everything is going well until I try to access the settings menu.... apparently it did all of them successfully but settings.odex. I tried messing with it for a while but I just dunno. I submitted an issue ...Give it a look if you want. Any feedback is appreciated. Try running this command:
java -jar baksmali.jar -c Settings.odex instead of
java -jar baksmali.jar -x Settings.odex.

It seems like JF has replied to your trouble ticket; a pretty lengthy and involved response at that.

What HTC kitchen are you using? A link perhaps?

the -c option is used to specify specific boot class paths. so the syntax to use it would be
java -jar baksmali.jar -c :specifiedjar.jar -x Settings.odex

By the way, xeudoxus has just updated xUltimate to v2.2.3 and says it should work with Gingerbread.....seems like it just got a lot simpler if indeed it does work

He had previously said he was going to be updating it pretty soon, so I wasn't in a hurry to try too many other things..........they take up too much time.......lol
