So I had to exchange my thunderbolt due to a faulty head phone jack, get the new phone and the new one does the same thing. Then I tried the models they had displayed in the store same thing.

If the headphone plug gets turned clockwise or counterclockwise while in the jack sometimes the sound on the left headphone speaker will go out. Also if the plug male gets pushed gently to the side the left headphone speaker goes out.

I tested this with 3 different pairs of head phones. This kind of annoys me I planned on using the thing as my main music player now I have to worry about it being in my pocket and the connector twisting. Pretty lame if you ask me.

I figured it was an isolated incident but what are the odds I found 3 different phones that did the same thing. It amazes me the things they cheaped out on making this phone, the volume buttons are junk as well.

I had the exact same problem with my original Moto Droid, however I've had nothing but awesomeness so far with the Tbolt, especially in the audio department.

I have heard of people having this issue with the OG Droid ( I never had the issue at all). I haven't heard anything about it on the TB. That is weird though.

My tbolt's headphone jack is the same way.

I love the phone, but it does seem cheaply made and thrown together in a hurry. The light leakage at bottom since the bezel is about quarter inch short....what were they thinking by using some cheap piece of plastic to fill the gap? The headphone jack, the 1400 measly battery, 2 led backlights instead of 4 like the evo. Those are my only gripes.

Do you think I should try to return it again? I have returned the phone like 3x already. Not really sure its going to make a difference at this point.

1) for screen lagging while plugged into the OEM AC wall charger
2) up volume button got jammed and would not work
3) once for head phone jack issue

Funny how I have used 4 thunderbolts (2 in VZW store, one friends, and mine [extensively :)]) and had no problems with any of them. None. But some people can go through 3-4 devices in two weeks.

Just sayin....

Funny thing is I didnt use any of them extensively all these issues surface within the first four hours I have the device. I havent even really been able to mess around with it.

Oh, I see...So you plugged in headphones into both store models, and your friends' phone as well?

Did you also take the 2 store models into a darkened room to take a look at the bottom where the gap is filled with a cheap piece of plastic?

Did you notice that Motorola and other phones are shipped with a higher mah capacity battery?

Have you recorded video only to discover the sound is barely there?

Look, I'm sick of people who want so badly for the phone to be perfect that they insinuate everyone who has had a legitimate issue is a whiner, or insane. Funk that.

Just because an object you so value is flawed in some way, does not invalidate your decision to purchase one, so relax and stop with the selective reasoning on this crap. These are real issues, I spent my $219, and have every right to mention issues that bug me, as well as the OP. Suck it up.

I guess those of us with the issue should call verizon support and let them know about it so it becomes a known issue. It seems like there is a bad batch of phones with this problem. Maybe verizon can notify us once its fixed or something. I called them today and they said they had no reports of the issue I mentioned but would note it down.

I have the same issue with my Thunderbolt. I also use a cable to connect to the radio in my car and that did the same thing. Evertime I'd hit a bump in my car the left side speakers would go out and I would have to move the cord in the headphone jackto get them back.. I brought it back to the Verizon store and showed them what was going on with my headphones and the guy tried two other types of headphones and they worked great! So he would not let me return my Thunderbolt. I got a different stero cord for my car and it works fine now. All I need to do now is find the right headphones that will work!

This is frankly unacceptable to me. I shouldnt have to buy specific head phones to work with the device, when the head phones I used which where (3 pairs) all work in every other head phone jack properly.

Not to mention the head phones I want to use cost 250 dollars. There not cheap no name head phones. Etymonic's.

I have a slightly different problem with the headphone jack. I use earbuds with a mic to talk when I'm on the train. I had no issues with them when I used them with my Incredible but everyone I talk to now say I sound muffled. I tried two different sets of earbuds with the Bolt and the same thing happens. I guess I'll have to get a bluetooth headset.

I see that a lot around here.
I have only 1 time swapped a phone because it was surely bad.
Other than that I actually have 5 or 6 Android phones on my desk here and all are the original phone I bought.

I have seen people here swap phones for various issues.
They go into a store with their peripheral and plug it in or link it to like 10 phones in the store and low and behold those 10 phones are mysteriously broken yet the peripheral itself is never swapped.

Just saying....
