Nexus S wakes up w/volume buttons

Hi fellow Nexus S users,

Has anyone noticed that you can wake the "S" with the volume buttons instead of the "Power" button?

You don't need to push nearly as hard using the volume buttons.

I've got that "Amzer Argyle" skin on my phone and it makes waking the phone with the power button a little difficult. Have to press with a little force. Much easier waking it up with the volume buttons.

Is there any harm in waking the phone up with the volume buttons instead of the power button that anyone knows of?

Thanks for any comments on this question!

The volume buttons don't wake up my ns either.

I just thought of something. I have an app running called "No Lock" that doesn't require unlocking the phone on wake up. I'll bet that's why I can do it.

Quite frankly, I don't know why you wouldn't use this app. I find sliding that unlock thing, everytime the phone wakes up, really annoying. I'm guessing that's why mine wakes with the power button.

I might uninstall the app just to see if that's what it is. I far as I can tell it doesn't seem to be hurting anything, and the phone is much easier to wake up.

Thanks,

DH

That's what it was!! It was the "No Lock" app. I read a few reviews on the market and one poster said that it made other buttons active for "wake up". I then uninstalled it and now the volume buttons are no longer active.

This is actually great for me because I carry my phone in a horizontal belt case, and with the volume buttons being ultra sensitive, my phone would constantly be waking up while in the case. It also means that I can now load up "NO LED", which would not work with the "No Lock" app.

Thanks folks for your very helpful replies to my questions!

Best,

NoLed causes a lot of juice loss on mine, but doesnt show in the battery usage stats for itself. Not worth it, without NoLed i can get 2 days easily, with it i only get 1.

Thanks for the info!

I've shied away from downloading the app because the most recent user reviews are terrible! Stating that the most recent update has virtually ruined the app for their particular phones.

Your battery experience will keep me away from it.

Thanks again!
