Droid is now Overclocked to 600 MHz!!

I'm not rooted, but if anyone is willing to check it out it a go and let us know what you think of it!! It does BREAK WIFI though! ... but they are close to fixing it I guess!

This is what they are saying about the overclocking to 600 MHz:
"boot time has improved noticeably, pandora also seems to launch quicker. running benchmarks shows good improvement, but a lot of day to day tasks are similar to what they were.

i've done very little actual testing to see if it runs much better, but yes, it does feel smoother...kinda."

Instead of your phone lasting 99.99 years it will only last 99.92 years. I've over clocked stuff before, like my psp its been over clocked for five years still going. I over cloced it by double too.

What's the point? Isn't it only 50mhz? Big friggen deal. Now if they were OCing it to 1Ghz, now that would get me interested.

2 things about that post...If you can max and min it to 600 mhz it would makes a pretty big difference from stock (if you can get the same battery life too though). Cause stock does not always run at 550 mhz 24/7... it takes time to get it up there, like a few seconds.

...If you don't believe me I used to overclock my G1 and had min to 385 (forgot the exact # but it was close to that) and then you would watch it eventually get to 528 because I didn't max it 24/7 because of battery. Once the phone gets going it like "kicks it into high gear" I guess you could say. Then the 528 mhz kicked in after a few seconds of up time with the phone. So using it max and min to 600 mhz would probably make a nice difference between opening things and scrolling and a few common things. Not to much with the browser or anything though from my understanding.

2nd, I heard the developer tazmanian or whatever his name was has some more things up his sleeve to maybe go above 600 mhz. that's that rumor. I read it in that link or on droid forums, forgot which (sorry). But that could be very interesting!

As it was said in the link posted, it isn't a true overclock. The cpu is running lower than it's rated and the extra 50MHz is in the device spec so it's more like an "Overdrive".

Yeah so when we do do this it'll do absolutely no damage to the phone. Someone will make this app on the market soon too like they had for past htc phones also.
