So, I know the original droid is damn old by now. I am considering buying a Inc 2 when it comes out, but I wanted to confide in this awesome community for help until then.
I've ROMed, flashed all kinds of backups, and themes and boot images. I've finally settled for a rooted stock FRG83D, finding that many of the ROMs I used were all damn near perfect, but always had a deal-breaking glitch in them. I understand part of that is the uniqueness of individual phones, and how they "accept" the ROM, but nonetheless, they don't mesh the way I want to with MY phone.
So I figured stock would return the "factory" or "out of the box" performance of the phone, since I am no longer interested in OCing, or the way it looks. I just want it to WORK until I get a new phone. Unfortunately, even the STOCK FRG83D rom has glitches!
Symptoms:
Texts sometimes don't get to me. I sometimes get comments from family that they send me texts, confirm that their message was SENT, but I never got a trace of them. This is intermittent, but I'm always afraid of missing an instructional text from work or something important. This problem has persisted between ROMs, so I know it's not a particular one.
The phone is nowhere near as snappy as it was when I first bought her. I understand that part of that is the apps I use, or the "replacement" apps such as launcher pro and swiftkey, and I've also locked in the LP home screens to memory to prevent redraws, but I'm just mentioning the problem. It will sometimes take apps that don't load data 2 seconds or more to open. For example Messenger will give me a blank white screen about 2 seconds before displaying my messages.
I sometimes get routed to a random app when hitting shortcuts! For example, when I select Messenger, it will open FB, or Runkeeper. Huh?!
Bottom line, I want my phone to perform the way it did when I bought it last spring. I don't care about the rom, or theme, or overclocking. CAN I do this? will a phone wipe help? Will reflashing the stock rom I have now help (I know sometimes something won't "stick" on the first flash)? Should I wipe data and cache first if so?
Help me, oh awesome, all-knowing Android Community!
Thanks
