Hi there,

im expecting delivery of my new DHD in a couple of hours, im a complete noob when in comes to messing with phones other than jb on an iphone. I watched a video of some guy playing a psx emulatior on his DHD and wanted to know how easy it would be to do that. Also is there any dos and donts you would recommend before i start using it as obviously its easier to flash etc when theres nothing on it.

Thanks for any advice and please post links to videos or sites that could help me out. I know i can google it and trawl throught loads of crap but would be nice to get straight to the good stuff.

Cheers.

I got my DHD in November and set it up just as I wanted it, AND THEN started learning how to use it. This is when I obviously installed a few too many apps, and changed too many settings because it started running slow and generally being crap
A month later I was forced to factory reset it.

I've now setup everything how I want it, and used the things I learnt the first time round, and its awesome.

So my recommendation to you, play around with it, change settings, install hundreds of apps, learn how to use it, and then factory reset it and set it up how you want it forever (this time without all the demo software and crap).

Things to try:

Battery savers like Green Power
3rd Party web browsers
3rd Party messaging apps
Various types of Task Managers (only for viewing resource usage and killing crashed apps)
Alternative Weather/Clock Widgets

PSX emulation is patchy to say the least. In theory HTCWozz is correct (it does require at least 4 downloads though - emulator, BIN file, ROM search utility and a game) but but but but be warned - a lot of the games you may remember playing are unavailable or simply don't work.

And to top it all off when they do work the controls are a bitch!

Let us know how you get on.

I'll be sticking to Advance Wars on the tigerGBA emulator - much more satisfying to play than games that require analog sticks (and yes I'm looking at you N64oid).

And do not install a task killer for any reason. K?

yes. for the third time :) do not install task killers. DHD kills tasks automatically that you dont use (well, generally speaking all android 2.1 i think does that)

download GO SMS
- 3G Watchdog (track your data usage)
- Vplayer advanced (plays all video types)
- Flow for Facebook
- Look out (anti-virus. since youre opening your phone to all sorts of apps)
- Google Sky Map
- FxCamera
- File Expert (access your SD Card)
- App2SD (transfer your apps to your SD, frees up your phone memory)
- App Protection (gives certain apps password to access - for security)

Have fun on your new DHD! YOU WILL LOVE IT!
