I have been waiting for Angry Birds Rio for a long time, but was not happy when found out can only get through Amazon app store, and since lovely At&T won't let us install anything not from the official market, we basically don't get to install this game until it comes to the market! So I did some reading and found the awesome Android Central Side Load wonder machine, see link below, the detailed instructions are on post #16
AC Sideload Wonder Machine for Windows - Page 2 - Android Forums

once you get the amazon app on your phone, you need to download the Angry Birds Rio app, it will take a while, then cannot install..... no worries, plug your phone to the PC, using mass storage mode, find the file in the folder android/data/cache/com.amazon.venezia, and copy to your PC. then use the sideload wonder machine and install the file onto your phone, and you're done!

How did you download the apk? When I click to get it it wants to install the app but can't so that's as far as I get. The apk does not download.

it is downloaded in your phone already, just not installed. so you need to connect the phone to your pc as mass storage mode, grab the file from your phone (see post #1 in this thread for the location) to your PC. then use the sideload wonder machine to install to your phone (just like you installed the amazon app)

No I've looked at it's not there. The folder does not exist. I've tried on a couple of other free apps with same result. Does not download.

Angry birds rio is now in the android market just saw it today

However the free one on Android market has ads. So if you don't want ads, need to sideload the Amazon one. BTW, the free ad free Rio on Amazon will expire soon (think this weekend), so grab it if you don't want ads. Also if you want the ad free Angry Brids (original), you also need to get it from Amazon for $0.99

Anyone that has a custom ROM can download the Amazon app store and any apps they sell and install them perfectly because the custom ROMs remove the AT$T restriction of not allowing you to install 3rd party apps. AT$T is probably going to allow the Amazon app store (that's right Steve, I said app store) eventually, but sideloading is the only alternative for people that don't want to flash a custom ROM.

AT$T suck it indeed.
