Hi all,

I have had my HTC desire for a while now and realize I haven't been using the android software and it's link with gmail to it's full potential.

I have been saving all my contacts to the phone instead of to my gmail account. I now want to have them linked to my gmail account but can't figure out how to do this other than re-typing each contact in as a gmail contact (which I don't want, nor have the time to do).

Is there an easy way to change a "stored in phone" contact to a gmail contact?

Thanks.

You can export then from 'People', Menu-> Export to SD card. Delete them all, then re-import them into your Gmail account.

Thanks,

I did that and somehow in the process I lost 1 or 2 contacts.

Either way I got most of them over to the gmail account and synched on the phone.

But I added the contact I lost and for some reason I am un able to sync the contacts any more. I am able to sync the calendar and gmail mail but not my contacts...

Sorry, that's beyond my level of expertise with Gmail. What happens if you remove the contact that you added, does it sync again?

For people reading this in the future that may have this problem this si what I did to fix it.

I went into my settings and deleted my contact info, which will erase all your contacts (obviously (so it's a good idea to export your contacts to the SD drive before you do this just in case).

After I erased all the info in contact info file I tried to synch with gmail again and it worked. Somethign must have been in that file that didn't mesh with the gmail sync.

Either way, all is good... for now :)
