Just wondering what apps you guys have uninstalled fromm your rooted droids... I'm really getting annoyed by some of these apps like google talk storage, alarm clock, and calender launching themselves when they have no business at all running.

And even regular apps do this which baffles me why people make apps that launch themselves I wish we had user acccount control I bet someone will make this type of app for rooted devices one day.

Thanks for the input.

Yes, I have uninstalled the 2.0.x multimedia dock (although 2.1's is WAY cooler), Corporate Calendar, Amazon MP3, and Visual Voicemail. I also uninstalled tha CarDock app, but reinstalled in when I found out how easy it was just to take the magnet out of the OEM car cradle which triggered the app. Now that I'm using chompSMS for messaging and K-9 Mail Beta for all emails, I'm thinking about getting rid of the stock messaging app, and the two stock email apps. But you do have to watch. Removing stock apps and then receiving an OTA update from Verizon can cause a bricked (or partially-bricked) DROID. Having a nandroid recovery image is the only way to fly. ;)

I'm using advanced task killer and I am looking at the processes tab up top. I see many that are running that are confusing to me and not sure if they are tied to apps or if the rooted ones you guys have, have these also.

Really trying to speed up my device, it is really lagging bad and I have uninstalled almost all my aps. Using default messaging, default home. Maybe its locale I'll try uninstalling that see if it helps.

I'll list a few

Gmail Storage - will this not be running if I remove the gmail app?
Google Talk Service - uh I don't even use google talk or have an account...
Camera - why is this even running I haven't used my camera in over a week now

voice dialer - uh what is this for? I could see this being launched if I go into my call app and then try and voice dial... maybe once ever 3 weeks but why is it running now, can I remove it on a rooted device I don't even use it.

Calendar storage -
Corporate Calendar -

Alarm Clock - I could see this being running if i have an alarm scheduled for some time, but seeing as I don't why the heck is this running?

Google Search Enhanced - does this have to do with pressing the search button on the phone, or maybe the google search widget on my desktop? I guess it needs to be running all the time?

My advice? Don't run Advanced Task Killer all of the time. Just use it momentarily. Open, kill apps, close.

Also, Locale really dogged down my DROID.

FWIW, I have about 145 apps installed  , and my DROID is really snappy. I am running 2.1 firmware though. But I am also running it with just BLACK wallpaper (a 10x10 jpeg file). A true geek at heart. :)
