Looking at switching to Verizon

I just want to know how you guys like Verizon? I was also curious to how their discount works? I supposedly get a 20% and my bill would be about $270 with 4 phones but he rep told me that the discount only applies to the primary phone line so what would I get off for my discount.

Im looking to get the Thunderbolt on probably 3 of the lines, how do you guys like the phone? I would be coming from the EVO so I'll be pretty familiar with the phone.

How many of you guys are tethering? have you had any problems with verizon with tethering your phone?

To the best of my knowledge, you also get your discount off the access charges of your secondary lines. However, at 10 bucks a line, you're only saving 6 bucks across the 3 secondary lines, so he probably figured not even to mention it.

That said, got mine activated finally yesterday, still tweaking things a little, getting used to things more (came from other smartphones and a Fascinate so I'm ok with it all). So far, I love it. Can't ask for more (other than this area's horrible data speed out here in the sticks...works for most things, but it could be a little quicker lol).

I came from an EVO. In short, it's an upgraded, faster, smoother EVO with a nicer screen and more storage.

Things I do miss is FREE visual voicemail and the Sprint Navigator (You can download the free Telenav app, but it's not quite as polished IMO).

Using the LTE on/off app (and the same tweaks I applied to the EVO), I'm actually getting better battery life on the TB than my EVO did.

Not sure on the discounts, but I only swapped because my company required me to switch in order to be on the company plan.

I get a discount and it only applies to my main line (20% also). I've been with Verizon for about 3(?) years now. I would say I like it simply because of the coverage, I see to have better coverage the majority of the time than anyone else around me on a different service (I live in PA). As for the Thunderbolt....I had an Original Droid previously and the Thunderbolt is a good amount faster and smoother. I don't play a lot of 3d games so I can't speak in that respect. The Battery life is bearable for me. It's not as good as my Droid, but the screen is bigger. That being said, I honestly dont think it's THAT much different, but then again I usually dont like to let my phone get down to red if I can help it .

I have been with Verizon since I first owned a phone, 7 years ago and I think they have the best service...I know quite a few AT&T customers who complain of dropped calls and I could probably count on one hand the number of times my phone has said Call Was Lost or Signal Faded...its been few and VERY far between. I have had great customer service, they have replaced broken phones for me most of the time with no questions asked. I tell them what I did to try and fix it and they usually take my word. I don't have any issues, and I also get a 20% discount, and it only applies to the main line, but as stated above additional lines @ $10 wouldn't add up to too much...but I do understand every bit helps.

I just switched to Verizon from ATT. I am getting a 19% discount. This also applies to my data which brings my unlimited to like 24.98 or something like that.

Yes, i miss visual voicemail, but GoogleVoice or even the free app "Yap" works just fine. haven't had a problem yet.

Yes, Sprint had free navigation. But google maps is where it's at. love it.

Yes, Sprint had free tv shows/ESPN. but the selection was so limited! i downloaded/paid $8 for TVStreams (insane amount of tv shows to stream like Simpsons, Archer, Venture Brothers, etc) and love it.

LTE>Wimax. in Charlotte, i get awesome download speeds that i never saw with WiMax.

speaking of which, there's really No Lag on the phone at all when using LTE. it usually took 4 minutes for the Evo to switch into/out of WiMax and be usable--but with my TB i have never seen a single bit of lag due to the network speed/radio.

been tethering for about 2 weeks with the free hotspot feature (until May 15th when it begins charging to the account) and am happy to report no issues. just as fast tethering as on the phone itself. just remember, Speedtest.net is flawed---don't look at those scores (even if the rep swears by them). Speedtest.net isn't setup to handle LTE measurements.
go to a flash enabled site like www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and run your speedtests from there.

i switched from Verizon on the TB Launch date & would never go back (esp since its unlimited LTE! for now...at least

plus, i'm sharing minutes, so my bill is $29.99+9.99+taxes (about $50 max monthly)
that totally kills my $83 Sprint bill.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon. I didn't really have a whole lot of problems with AT&T voice, but the data was hit and miss.

Verizon has been good so far, and the data is blazing on 4G. I LOVE the Thunderbolt.

Well right now my sprint plan I pay about $220 with EVERYTHING ie... insurance and premium data (lol @ premium data). Thats 5 lines total my wife and I pay the majority of that bill everyone else I just have pay the extra $20 it cost to have the line which is no big deal to me. But each line added on verizon will cost them $55 (which I am not concerned with, because they can get their own plan if they wanted) But I think it will still be cheaper for my wife and I to switch once the discount is applied. I think I pay $160 for our two EVO's and thats with the discount of 15%.

I looked at costs for just my wife and I and it would be around $190-discount so relatively close. My biggest concern is the 3G access we don't live in an area with lte just yet Chicago is the only city close with it.

I have same experience. But I don't have 4g available. And ATT data was more like 90% miss 10% hit.
