First of all, are you guys saying that this [HOWTO] Return to stock properly and safely. - xda-developers isn't really needed? All I have to do is put this file on my SD card and flash it with CWM?

Second of all, why do you say "Screw that download!" I get that you're joking because of the LOL, but is there really a difference between these two?

You dont use CWM, you use the Hboot, but yes. Its just that simple. I used it to send my Bolt in yesterday and it was setup like it just came out of the box. It even reinstalled things like blockbuster and that stupid golf game like they were never gone.

Im saying screw that download because from what everyone Ive heard of that actually was able to download it from there, it took 2/3 HOURS to download. I tried four times and each time I got a no slots available error. Other than that, theyre the same file, just one will take you about 5 minutes to download, and the other if youre lucky will take a hell of a lot longer. lol.

My link worked perfectly for me. 3g only area and it took about an hour here. Got my replacement phone yesterday. It would only get 1x. Will be sending both back! Grrr!

Perhaps its your area and not the phone? Are you 100% sure youre covered in 4g/EVDO?

As far as the link goes, youre lucky, but 5 mins > 1 hour. lol.

Ok, thanks for the heads up about the downloading process.

Sorry for the noob question, but why do I have to flash this in hboot? Is it because I am going to wipe the device and I will lose CWM? Sorry, I'm just a little confused because I've only ever flashed to get root. Never flashed anything else except stock restore on the Droid X that I had for 2 weeks, and I did that through CWM.

I've been reading up on this since the moment you posted because I didn't want to have to ask, but I am not finding the answer. Everything I read about flashing ROMs says to flash in CWM. So, what is the difference here. Also, this may seem like a stupid question.....how do I even get to hboot if I have CWM installed? I thought it was one or the other.

Yeah, it wipes out EVERYTHING on your phone so back up BEFORE you do this. CWM will no longer be there and it will be like you just walked out of the store with your phone. I dont understand the process so I wont pretend to, but for me its a lot like back in the day where you had to use dos prompts to install software. lol. Im a noob at this as well dude, no worries. This is the first droid Ive ever had, I just have the time to scrounge the net looking for answers I need. :p I spend a lot of times reading shit on forums. The only stupid question is the one you dont ask that gets your phone bricked. :p

From your phone being off, hold down both the volume down button and the power button till it turns on. Itll take you right there. Then click hboot by pressing the power button. It will take care of the rest. Follow the instructions on the screen and youll be fine. :) Its really simple and youre gunna kick yourself for thinking its more difficult than it is....just like I did. haha.

It's rough being a beginner, huh? Thanks for clarifying, makes perfect sense. Now I have my "just in case" backup plan for if I need to go into Verizon with my TB. Still need to look up what the difference is between flashing through CWM vs. hboot. I don't get that.

Thanks for the help!

Have you ever installed an Operating System? There are two ways to install it, but sometimes only one will work. By starting from a boot disk, its kinda like starting with the Bolts natural boot disk. If you were to use CWM, I think that you would have to do this anyways. I may be wrong, but yeah. lol. Thats how it seems to me.

Do you unzip the file into the root directory or do you leave it in zip format?

I am in HBOOT right now, and not real sure where to go from here.

Never mind.

I found another thread that explained it completely.

For those that want to go this route, you need to do the following:

1. Place the zip on the root of your SD card
2. Rename the zip to: PG05IMG
3. Power off the TB
4. Boot into HBOOT by pressing (Power and Volume Down) at the same time
5. Follow the instructions given through HBOOT

If you read through the thread I posted the link to in my first post, this information was all in there. :) I Think that I was able to do this while charging, but then again I could be wrong...

Why on earth would I read a thread over there when I have a much more enjoyable site HERE. :)

I really like the way this site is laid out, and I especially like the people on this site a lot better. People here seem to be more humble and not so quick to rip your ass for asking a question that may have already been answered.

I am guessing I am not alone on my above statement, so I figured I would post the steps here. No offense meant.

I agree with you on that, XDA is great for getting ROMs and tweaks from, but I rarely post over there. I will go there to get the new ROM I want or the update I'm looking for, but there is a bit of an air of "I'm better then you in a lot of the posts"

I didnt take it as offensive, but as of late Ive just been seeing more and more people that have become too lazy to read where theyre supposed to. Perhaps youre right though, maybe I should have posted those directions here as well. Maybe thatll teach me. lol.

I just look at things as if someones too lazy to click a link that takes them directly to their answer, or even do a search on it, theres a large chance theyre going to screw up their phone. I understand not wanting to post on certain boards due to people with that air of superiority, however at the same time Id rather take my advice on this type of thing from someone thats tried and true. :) Im glad you got it worked out though man.

Does anyone still have this file available? I'm stuck at work and having sim card issues but VZW wants to "troubleshoot" it before they'll replace the sim. Whats stupid is that I probably know more about the ins and outs of the phone than they do.

Since I'm at work I can't download from the file sharing sites and the torrent is down so I cant torrent the file from my phone. I tried downloading from the Megaupload link on my phone but unfortunately download isnt working on the phone with Dolphin, Firebox, or the stock browser...

If someone has the file available and has private hosting and wouldnt mind sharing the a link with me I'd really appreciate it.

Thx all.

They want to phone troubleshoot? Or want you to go to a store? Either way,i wouldnt unroot for "troubleshooting" :)

When they want to "troubleshoot" (I'm using that term VERY loosely with even the Tier 2 people I've spoken with on the phone "Umm take out the SIM card and put it back in, did that fix your issue?") they'll ask you what build #, etc. I don't really know what to tell them, "Umm it says BAMF....<click> HELLO? HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? HELLO?"

yeah thats all they did with me,too. just restore a backup of the rooted mr2 rom,or go ahead and flash it if you never have. then they can "troubleshoot" all they want and none of your answers will confuse them :)
