Note taking/drawing apps?

I am a nurse who uses the Xoom on the clinical floor for medication tracking, taking handwritten notes, teaching patients about their condition, etc. I am currently looking for a way to take "on the slide" handwritten notes while in a PowerPoint during meetings or presentations. I have both Quickoffice HD and Docs to Go Premium to view them (prefer Quickoffice HD). Does anyone know of an app or way to make this happen? Thanks in advance!

On kind of a side note, what hospital software do you use on the Xoom?

I have quite a few...Epocrates, Nursing Central which isUnbound Medicine with all the Davis guides, Skyscape, Medscape, Mini Nurse, Google Body, Qx Calculate, MedicalMnemonics, Med Surg, and a couple more. It has been worth every penny and all tnhe physicians use it to do research whenever I set it down...I need to figure out a way to charge them back for that!

On kind of a side note, what hospital software do you use on the Xoom?

its not my every day keyboard (tablet k eyboard free) but it does work well. on the xoom you can handwtite 2 lines of text before converting it to type in the field.

not worth 10 maybe 5 but i need a keyboard that does what it does and right now its the only option i have found. accuracy is pretty good. was not blown away but i didnt have to correct it too often.

I had NoteShelf on my iPad and haven't found a replacement yet on Honeycomb.

The main features I'm looking for:
-Wrist protection: You *need* to be able to lay your hand on the screen while writing. Wrist protection that works well is very nice.
-Multiple notebooks
-Syncing to an external source (I'd always sync to Dropbox after class with NoteShelf)

That's the bare minimum I'd look for. When there's an app that does that, someone let me know! If there isn't one by mid-may I might have to make it myself!

I'm gonna try out MaplePaint, but I'd rather pay $5 for a more featureful app, especially one that has a Honeycomb based UI.

Re: Styluses:
I had the HTC capacitative stylus for a while, but the tip that you write with is made of plastic. Bend it just a little bit, and it stops working. Very poor design.
I got an Elago Stylus for the iPad, and it worked fantastically. Even though it says iPhone, it of course works on any capacitative screen. I highly recommend it. The tip is made of rubber and is compressible, so it's very nice against the screen.

Tried maplepaint. Works great but it *needs* wrist protection. I can't write very well without resting my hand on the tablet.

Genial Writing still doesn't have wrist protection, but it has multiple notebooks, and you can export to Evernote, not sure about other than that. I like it way better thanMaplepaint though.

Ok..thanks... I was thinking you had software that integrated with the hospitals system since all hospital are required to go paperless in the near future...so you could do patient charting, look up xrays, etc...

Yeah, that would be ideal but because the Xoom is my personal tablet I am not able to connect to the system (HIPPA).

Hey converting the PP to PDF and using RepliGo worked like a charm...thank you! Now I just have to figure out how to change "ink" colors in RepliGo!

Ok...figured out the color issue...after writing something it pops up a window to make those changes...

I bought this and like it a lot. I'm giving Tabnotes a try, too.

writepad seems good however an early reviewer who seems to be left handed states its not good for left handers.

if any of you cats are left handed and use writepad, let me know your thoughts. i am looking for an app just as this that turns what you write into text.

Hey everyone, no one has replied to this thread in a while, but so far I've found Evernote+skitch to satisfy my typing/drawing needs.

I'd love to see notes plus, but for now nothing else allows me to combine handwritting and typing (into an elegant interface).

A nice GUI is KEY to note taking apps. Maybe I have ADD, but if you give me an ugly background I'm going to be constantly distracted.

Just a thought I had...I am going to get a xoom soon...before I made my final choice I wanted to get the htc flyer...now that I know that I want to get the xoom do you think the stylus that comes with the Flyer might be able to be used along with the erase and highlight buttons attached to the stylus? or if you got the same app on the xoom that is on the Flyer to use it the same exact way? I know that the Flyer is running gingerbread and don't know if that makes much of a difference

I like penultimate a lot. I'd like to see something like that on Android. Drawfree is pretty good for hand writing but I don't think it has any keyboard functionality if you're looking for that feature.
Has anyone tried Handrite? I've been using that app with a stylus for note taking. You can also type with it. I like the fact that you can write as large as you want and when you're done writing, the app resizes and aligns it on the page for you. If you would rather type, you can pull up the keyboard. It's not perfect but it seems to be a reasonable compromise.
For pdf readers, Repligo Reader is excellent. You can annotate, highlight or markup a pdf easily and the file system isn't too combersome. Another worth consideration is ezPDF Reader. It's very good but the file system is less convenient to work with.

I'm waiting for Aji to come out with i-Annotate for Android. This is a great pdf app but at the moment it's Apple only. I've been talking to the devs at Aji and they tell me they are shooting for the Android version release in the 4th quarter of this year. Hope they can do it.

Hey I like that app, I have a few stylus for the Nintendo DS, you can usually find a pack of 3 or 4 of those for $3 and that might work.

So do the DS stylus' work on a tablet?
