just put the number in the search window.
Also search for "Samsung Continuum battery" and there is even a 3600mah one!
I have secured (in hand) a spare cover. So I have one to modify.
I'm really considering ordering this sucka'
I've posted a request on the Samsung Continuum page here for someone to measure thier battery.
I think the prongs look the same.
Edit: I notice the tits inside the phone that prevent different batteries from being installed are made of plastic, so the are easily modified or removed.

i am sorry for the trouble the battery life has put you veteran owners of the Indulge through.. i actually have a question..

when did you actually notice the battery issues? i mean really noticed the abnormalities with the phones life cycle charges?

i ask this because after purchasing my Indulge today, my friend/Metro employee placed the battery in the unit to boot up and activate the phone, when she did this and activation was complete, i left to continue my work day. the battery had to have been in the phone at about 2:30PM today..

being one of the first things i checked the battery level and it was at 51% and draining.

i don't believe in racing to charge the phone up on the "pre-charge" that manufacturers give the battery before shipping. i personally believe that the battery with it's semi-charge should be run dead before giving the first charge to properly juice up every cell.

the display brightness was at.. whatever the settings are on stock, no WiFi, no bluetooth, no gps. i didn't alter any settings that would impact the battery life cycle besides syncing my gmail account/contacts/market everything was left as is.

i couldn't focus on work today and web browsed strenuously on the web, (as a side note, i was sites that use heavy graphics and music with pretty amazing amount of advertisements and others were subtle, and i didn't open any more than 3 browsing windows and i was on 4G), i downloaded a couple of market apps and ran quadrant on it about 3 times but mostly, i was just impressed the speeds off web pages loading.

i was still at work however, so i will say that i placed the phone down about 4 to 5 times throughout the day in a 10-20 minute period always making sure to press the power button to sleep the phone.

by 9:00pm the phone which was at 51% was now down to 1% ...

going by the experience with your Indulge's, do you think it could be the phone or am i in for a surprise tomorrow?

my Indulge was completely dead and is now on the charger, i have not booted it back up as of yet..

tomorrow i will put the device to the test. i am doing a full work day 8am to 9pm, and because my car is in need of a new starter, i will be using New York's public transportation to travel between my work locations so i intend to make the device my travel buddy tomorrow and see how things turn out.

i will keep you guys posted on how the battery lasts to maybe hopefully provide some feedback on the battery issues with the Indulge.

sorry for the long winded reply..

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before better batteries begin to be manufactured for this phone. How long has it been out? Only a few (maybe several?) months, right?

I posted this in another thread too, I know our battery is used in some other Samsung models, are there no compatible/interchangeable extended batteries for those other models of phones? I was intending to do a cross check of our battery part number, to see what other phones use it, and then search for extended batteries for those other phone models, just haven't had time to do that yet...

I also tried the thing that was suggested by 2-3 different of those poor Samsung live chat reps you guys have been torturing... (the thing about phone on, charge for 8 hours, phone off, charge 1 hour, phone on 2 mins, then off, then charge another hour). I really think it's just to make you feel better, like you are doing something, but it's probably really useless. Like duck and cover drills, or putting on your life vest, etc. in an airplane that's about to crash. But I figured, what the heck, maybe it will do something. So I did it today. I just turned the phone back on after doing the whole process, I will let you guys know if I think it helped anything.

its not for our phone, its twice as think and requires a new back cover.

im hoping something will come for our phone. Battery with new back cover.
The thing is Mike, we've both had more than one person say there are no plans right now for a bigger battery and cover. As much screaming as I've done (believe me I've had way more contact than I've posted on this), at this point I don't think there ARE plans to release an extended battery. Which I find inexplicable....
But I woke up with a dead battery again this morning. I've got to do something. Samsung won't help......
My only concern at this point is if the prongs are the same. There are three....so one is common, one is charge input and one is output positive????? This is a question.
Anyone have any ideas on how to replace what I cut out of the cover? I'm thinking I'll cut a piece of wood the size of this extended battery, lay it in place and use jb weld to build up the space between the hole and the piece I've cut out....Maybe I'll go to the hobby store and see if there is a plastic kit or something they can recommend. Remember those old vacuum form toys?
I really feel like making a workable cover would be fairly easy. As I said, I got a spare cover to experiment with.
Long live yankee ingenuity!

Ok so I won't be as long as the last message but if you have a question ask and I'll answer..

The results from my trial so far...

phone was off the charger at 8:30am

During the travel to my first location I web browsed, and adjusted the brightness to max and turned GPS location on.

Halfway through the trip I lost my 4G signal (long island NY isn't 4G covered as of yet) and was stuck in 1X. But my battery life dropped to 78% by 10am.

Being a little busy the phone remained in sleep mode until 2:30pm when I made my way to another location (coming back into Queens I was back in the 4G network)

Once I arrived at my location by 3:30 my battery level was at 52% I web browsed, downloaded more apps and even played around with google earth for android.

Being busy the phone remain in sleep, but not as busy as my other location I. Did play around with the device some more this time under 4G towers, by 4:30pm the battery was now at 28%

By 7pm the battery reached 10% and I have now placed it on charge.

I hope this is helpful to most of you in someway, and any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Copestag, a user over at the Continuum page answered my PM last night with the dimensions and prong measurements. They are identical. So the only question now is polarity. I forgot to ask him that. I'll check back with him.
I think I can make this work! I'm confident that I can modify the cover to my satisfaction.

Edit: The polarity is the same. Time to start researching options for modifying the back cover.
Maybe I'll start a new side business LOL

Let us know if you find a source for replacement back covers, even if they are the original design. I too wouldnt mind to use a dremel to create my own extended battery cover (function over form!)

It might help to know that the following models all have the same part number on the original battery - intercept m910, transform m920, acclaim r880, craft r900, indulge r910

I bought this 3500mah battery to try in my Indulge http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250795577632

If you view this link you'll see a large list of phones that use the same spec of battery.

The phone comes with EB504465VA but EB504465VU and EB504465VK are other possible part numbers

There seem to be lots of "Samsung OEM" batteries on ebay that I have a feeling are fake. They have an A8 in the bottom right of the backside.

If anyone wants what seems to be a real OEM Samsung battery here is the cheapest source (10$) I have found

This is probably the only phone I've ever heard of where the battery will actually last longer if you talk more on it. Since 4G mode is disabled while you're on a phone call and the screen is turned off while you're holding the phone to your face, you can literally be on a 3 hour phone call and when you're done, you'd probably have more battery life left than you would if you left the phone sitting on a desk with 4G turned on.

Samsung R900 Craft EB504465VA CELL PHONE BATTERY Mint - eBay (item 180637540830 end time Apr-08-11 13:26:03 PDT)

At ten dollars a battery, having three spares is an definate option. A stupid one, but an option none the less. You'd have to have several chargers charging at the same time, or be charging all night And you'd always have to be aware of whether your battery has died yet or not.
I'm tempted to order the 3600mah battery I saw, but it looked way aftermarket.....the 2600 one I did order is (or appears to be) OEM. The 3600 looks to be the same physical size as the 2600.
Remember.....I think it is the Samsung Continuum that has the same, albiet numbered differently, battery.

Called the 888 number today about this. A frustrating hour and a half. The stance is that there are just no plans by Samsung to release an extended battery. Challenged thge "3rd tier help" guy to get someone, anyone higher up to actually contact me.

So I contacted again the one exec that got back to me. He ignored my questions about the battery before. The battery questions were an aside in my first contact though. This time my email was very strident and direct on what Samsung plans to do about this battery issue.
Again, I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, I am quoting myself. Get over it. lol

Anyway, just wanted to report back and say I did try the suggested procedure, and I don't think it made a damn bit of difference. My phone still doesn't make it through a full day (for me, 15-18 hours). It usually makes it about half a day. Which is exactly what it did before I tried this little procedure. So yeah, duck and cover drill. lol

For comparison/background purposes, I did do 2-3 full charge cycles when the phone was brand new per factory instructions. I also almost always let the phone completely die (or very close) before putting it on the charger, then let it charge back up completely. So maybe in my case I am not having battery memory issues, and that's why I didn't see any improvement by performing this procedure. So, as they say, YMMV...

Well I got the Continuum extended battery. Man it is uber thick!
BUT IT FITS!
Unfortunately, I've decided to get a better phone. I sold my Indulge. I was going to go with the Samsung Galaxy S at T Mobile, but the plan was to expensive. I've settled on Sprint and the Samsung Epic. Did a lot of research and like what I see.
Adios.
But the Continuum battery does fit.

Just bought a "Combo Pack" battery and charger at my local metro corporate store, $17.50 on sale.

MetroPCS | Accessory Details

So, just to confirm, that includes the battery AND charger? Because a careful reading of the linked page makes me think it's just a charger, and doesn't include the battery.

I will definitely be picking this up if it's a combo, I have been looking for some sort of charger like this (it does no good to have spare battery(ies) without some type of external charger like this).

Well I got the Continuum extended battery. Man it is uber thick!
BUT IT FITS!

Without any modifications to the cover or anything?

I also wonder if that Continuum extended battery will fit in the charger that qdOOd is talking about, above?

*Better* in what way? Benchmarks show the Indulge as one of the faster phones available, beating the Galaxy S among others.

What score do you get with this app? https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard

That's awesome. And I will be trying that app. :)

Just to clarify a bit my above post regarding the battery combo pack i purchased. The pack contains a metropcs branded battery which is rated at 1100mAh and a charging CRADLE. Cradle must be plugged in to either your original charger OR can be plugged in to usb port on computer with microusb cable OR can be plugged in to a car charger. The cradle holds battery for charging and does contain an IC to regulate the charge. I felt it was a good buy for the price and does give me an option on days that my original battery falls short. I normally get about 10 hours of usage on battery.

To clarify....the continuum battery I bought is a Samsung Branded extended battery, and very thick. It physically fits, but is very thick and would require a battery door or extended cover. Which don't exist yet for the Indulge. But the continuum battery fits and the phone powers up. And the charger I bought from Metro charged it. So it's up to you what you do with the knowledge.

As far as the Indulge being one of the best on the market, I certainly cannot argue that. I love it. I just don't care to wait for it to be fully accessorised or supported. I'm sure it will be. And after more research, MetroPcs is actually still one of the best options for affordable 4G, at least here in the N Texas. But he Epic includes a lot of additional features like a better camera, flash, (a bigger) AMOLED screen and front facing camera. And tons of "Indie" support!

I'll probably still hate Sprint and come back though.
