Accept / Decline - But not always on incoming calls

Sometimes when I get a phone call, I get the

Accept / Decline

Buttons on my phone.

Other times, I don't get these options and only a choice to slide the screen to unlock to answer.

This has been annoying, sometimes difficult to answer, and at times I have missed calls.

I read in another post that I can simply click the:

Green button / Red Button

on the phone to answer or send to voicemail.

Question:

Why is it that on some calls I get the

Accept / Decline

and on other calls I don't?

I'm not sure if it has something to do with calls numbers matching my contact list vs. unknown numbers.

Sometimes I get it, other times I don't.

Is there a way to set my phone to get:

Accept / Decline

every time?

So I am a newbie to the Eris and I figured out that the answer/decline option comes up ONLY when the screen is on (not locked). My question is this:

Is it possible to decline a call when the screen is off (locked)? Sometimes I need to send a call directly to voicemail and it would be useful to know how to do this (is it even possible? I have never had a phone that couldn't do this)

Oh, BTW, hello to everybody :D

Lay the phone face down and it'll stop the phone from ringing. Won't send the call straight to voicemail just stop the phone from ringing. This comes in really handy especially when I get a phone call when on a date or in the middle of a meeting I just put the phone face down on the table and it takes care of it. It also has the added benefit of the person that is calling you not knowing that you rejected their call by not sending it straight to vm.

Hmmm---interesting. Turning the phone over silences the ringer. Useful to know.

Thanks
