Root Need help before I lose my mind

I just rooted my Evo today and installed CM7 ROM build RC4. I am trying to install this theme

[THEMES][CM7] themes by iamthebigcheeze | [UPDATE 3-11] All themes updated again! - xda-developers

but cannot for the life of me figure out why I can't see in once I reboot into recovery.

I want the DetoxEvo shown in that thread.

Can someone please explain to me how to see this theme once I am in recovery? I have went to install from SD card and it does not show.

Make sure it's in the root of your sd card, not in the downloads folder. It should show up once it's in root.

-choose zip from sd card
-toggle signature verification
-toggle script asserts

I then hit choose zip from sd card and it shows me a list of apps that are on my sd card but not the zip file for the theme.

Did you download the theme directly to your phone, or did you dl on your pc then transfer to phone?

If you dl'd directly to your phone you need to use estrongs or astro file manager to look in your downloads folder. Then cut the zip file and paste it to the root of your sd card, not in any folders. It should show up in recovery afterwards.

I downloaded to my pc then transferred to my phone.

The file I have on my pc is named Detox_v3.2,....do I need to rename the file?

I wouldn't rename the file. Unusual, I've never seen this before. Hang in there Bro, we'll figure it out. Let me do a little digging and get back to ya.

Ok lets try this.

Try to redownload the file, then try again. You may have a corrupted file, or it didn't dl all the way or something. I read where this worked for someone. Give it a try and let us know.

If you're still having problems after this we'll have to see if we can flag down One of the Gurus like Akazabam. That guy can fix just about everything.

Zips don't even need to be in your SD root because amon and clockwork can browse through folders. You need to make sure you know exactly where the file is located on your SD card and that it isn't misnamed somehow. Like if you somehow dropped the zip extension or something. Otherwise you should see it.

So I tried to just select and run the file and it rebooted the phone and never fully started up so I am having to recover to one of my backups...any ideas?

1 little note if you using windows it might be labeled zip zip if you renamed it click on the file using the right click button and select properties it will tell you the name. it should only have 1 zip on it.... put it on your phone reboot into recovery... select install zip from sd... easiest way to do that is make a short cut of y the drive that your phone is connected to on your desktop then drag it over to the drive and drop it. That way you know it's on the root of your sd card ...

I know I've seen the nameofcustomtheme.zip.zip issue before too... perhaps reinstalling the rom and the theme while still in recovery would work... worth a shot if you have a nandroid b/u

Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache first?

I have double checked and the file only has one .zip file name in it. When adding to the SD card I simply right clicked and sent it to the card in windows.

I would love to have this theme...but at this point am about ready to simply be content with using launcher pro plus with CM7...seems like a waste of root to me

I'm sorry I couldn't figure this out. I've never heard of this happening and not working once the file was redownloaded. I'm at a loss.
The only thing I can think of is that theme is not compatible with cm7, but I don't know for sure.

Well I figured it out....after 4-5 days of driving myself crazy and installing and uninstalling different roms and not understanding what I was doing wrong...I found the file I was looking for.

After entering recovery last night I hit the volume up button instead of the volume down button to try and find the file as all the folders were in alphabetical order so I was looking for a Detox_3.2 in the list....would you believe that I found the zip files UNDER the folders....talk about feeling like a complete dufus!!!

Good news is I reinstalled CM7 RC2 and NOW have the theme I wanted.

Ha, don't feel bad. I did the exact same thing when I first started trying to flash something. We've all been there. At least you'll never overlook it again!

Good grief!!! I thought I was losing my mind as well! I hate not being able to help someone fix a problem.

You are absolutely correct the list is scrollable, so if you have a lot of folders or files, the bottom of the list is off the bottom of the screen.
