Speed dial on MyTouch?

Is there a way to create speed dials using the dialpad (holding down the button like voicemail) on the MyTouch? I know you can create a direct dial shortcut on the home screen but I'd like to use traditional speed dials if possible. Anyone figure out how to do this? If there is a way...

I believe the direct dial shortcut is as good as it gets! I have had my phone for less than two weeks and have taken several steps backwards when it comes to usable features. The voice dialing is ....well basically, not voice dialing and is unusable, and requires a physical touch confirmation. No speed dial, and the annoying returning to the call log after a number is dialed. This was fixed with a app call No Call Log Prefs. Strange, it must have the ability to speedial, opening the dialer and touching 1 connects you to your voicemail.

after trying the direct dial link, I think its actually just as fast as having speed dial. So i am satisfied with this replacement. I think I almost prefer it because i always would forget who i assigned to which number and now i dont have to worry about that. I just click their picture and voila my phone call to that person is being connected :) only downfall is if youre not running something like open home that allows more then 3 home screens things can get a little crowded :p

I just got a my touch q and I just have to have the old fashion speed dial. I have read on here and I could not get mine to work...I found it!

went to my contacts, look up who I wanted to add, tapped their name, then menu key, tap the more button ..then it asked me to set to speed dial!

It worked on mine! Hope this helps?

Thanks! That works well. There is also another quicker way that gives you access to 99 speed dial buttons. First tap the "Contact" button at top of screen, then tap the "Menu" at bottom left corner, which will open up to give you the sub menu items. Select "More" at Right hand bottom corner, then you should see multiple options, ie Display, Speed dials, Accounts, Import/Export etc. Select Speed dials and the page will show you the unassigned spaces, up to 99 numbers can be assigned. Once you see the assigned numbers, you can over write the space or "Clear All" by using the Menu button at left lower corner. Have Fun!!
