My inspire vibrates about 6 times or so an then displays a flashing orange light when I put it on the charger. I cannot turn it on. I have barely used this phone. I used it yesterday until the battery dies and charged it overnight, however it will not turn on this am when I took it off the charger.

When I try to power it on while off the charger it just vibrates 6 times.

Anyone else experience this?

I have pulled the battery several times. No luck. Ot certainly is not charging, and when I press the power button, it just vibrates 5 - 6 times and does nothing. I have done absolutely nothing to this phone but instill a few apps from the market. My main phone is an iphone4 and barely use this phone. I will take it back to costco or an AT&T store and see if I can get a replacement battery

I just tried that. Held both down for at least 20 secs. Did it a number of times, but nothing happened.

I bought this phone 3/15 and traveled out of the country a couple of days later without the phone. Came back and played with it yesterday till the battery died. Put it on the charger, it showed 0% and charging, however I have not been able to start it since.

Did you try to reset the phone? (volume down and power button)

I got it from Costco. They have at least a 30 day return policy and maybe more than that. My plan is to try a different battery from either place first, and if the phone still does not start, I will return it to Costco.

did you get it from att? cause you have 30 days to return it from them so i would return it for a new phone. i saw you mentioned costco though and im not sure how their return policy is. never really purchased anything from there.

Update - the AT&T store I went to did not have any open inspires, and were not going to open one for me to test the battery. May be because I got it from Costco. I decided to just call Costco. They emailed me a return UPS label, etc. They will send a replacement once they receive the defective on. BTW, Costco has a 90-day return policy vs AT&T's 30-day.

I just sent mine back to Costco (Wireless Advocates) today. They gave me an RMA, and a shipping label.

Maybe I should just EXCHANGE it, despite the fact that I really HATE at*t as a company, I like this phone. Maybe this was just a lemon?

They are replacing the entire device. They considered it defective. I got RMA and shipping label and returned it yesterday.

Been due an upgrade since September on my wife's line that I used for the inspire. Yeah, AT&T lets me upgrade early as well. However, Costco's price of $19 and 90-day return policy, was a no-brainer.

Are they replacing the entire phone or just the battery?

Thats a pretty good return period. I usually get my phones from att only cause they let me upgrade when I ask nicely. But maybe ill wait and see what costco deal comes out next. Come on $20 infuse (hey I can hope)

What's important to remember is that any smartphone can be defective. After all they are mass produced, and come with a warranty for a reason. One or two defective phones are in no way a reason to judge a brand.

It's just like when I read how a user "hates" a certain carrier, often that reflects more on the person than they realize. I've used every major carrier, and have long term experience with the two I'm currently using, AT&T and Verizon. They are both excellent. Perfect? No! But nothing is. They are huge companies staffed by humans who can and will make mistakes. So why not work with them? Give them a fair change to resolve your issue instead of jumping to conclusions based on others reports.

I've enjoyed very good service with both which is why I've remained a long term customer.
