Upgraded from BB Pearl to Eris. WOW!

Just got myself a new toy! This thing is awesome. So far I haven't found any major dislikes. I do have a couple questions though.

1. Is a app killer necessary or can I just do a phone reboot via the power menu?

2. How often is it necessary to run a allkiller/system reboot?

3. Is there any way to stop sending extra emails into my Thunderbird email that is linked to my gmail account?

4. Is there a certain memory level I should try and maintain? I am at 121mb right now with about 12 apps. I know this ain't a BB so just curious.

5. This phone rocks!

Thanks all
Walter

First off hello and welcome!!

1. Some people love app killers and some people hate app killers, download one see if you like it but you can just reboot your phone. Some apps run on startup tho.

2. I reboot my phone probably once a day. I had to reboot my blackberry once a day as well. Just whenever you feel the phone is running a bit more slogish then normal.

3. I have no idea lol

4. I think im aroud 64mb or something and I still run pretty smooth. If you feel your phone starts running to slow for you delete something. :)

Welcome aboard!

1. I've had my Eris for about 2 weeks and I've never used an app killer. So far I haven't seen the need for one. My battery life is decent and my phone is as snappy as any BlackBerry I've owned.

2. The only time I've rebooted mine is when the system update was installed from Verizon. I think it's probably a good idea to reboot it 1x a week.

3. Not sure on this one.

4. You'll definitely want to keep your program cache cleared out. Settings---> Applications---> Manage Applications and sort by size. Click on the clear cache button for the stuff at the top of that list.

5. Longtime BlackBerry user, before that Windows Mobile user and I couldn't agree more.

Congrats on getting the Eris and welcome to the forum.

I had a BB Curve for a few years and a Palm Treo before that. Many of the stupid things we had to do with those phones are not required with this little gem.

1- App killers are not in any way necessary and neither are reboots.
2- I don't run an app killer at all and I never reboot my phone (with the exception of system updates). I have had an app manager in the past, but really didn't need that either.
3- Which extra emails are you talking about? Are these replies you have made or are you just talking about the emails you get on your phone?
4- I believe the minimum recommended memory level is 20 megs.
5- Yes, yes it does.:D
