I've rooted my EVO (some time ago) and want to install CM7, but I've read of the risk of losing your 4G by flashing ROMS.
Is there still this risk and how do I prevent it?

I read a few threads on here where people were suddenly unable to restore certain nandroids, IIRC it was more then one backup too. If this were to happen, is there a way to extract the keys from the nandroid? Or would you just be SOL if something happened?
Lol, you've been beating me to the punch a lot lately. Good teamwork nonetheless .
sidenote, 6 hrs off charger with moderate useage(no different than usual monday activities) and 82% batt left!!!!!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!!! Lovin this new kernel!! Matt, you may also be interested in trying out the BFS kernel in my sig.... not linked yet, but i cant imagine that youd have trouble finding it lol
I need to try a BFS kernel. I'm running SZ 1.1 CFS right now and I don't think I've ever flashed a BFS build. Do some people actually find that their phone performs better with BFS?
I hate constantly switching kernels since my battery life the first 24 hours is hit or miss. It really seems to settle down on my phone a lot after a couple of days/charge cycles. Right now I'm at 59% at 8.5 hours off charger . But then the other day, with a settled SZ 1.0.1 CFS, I was at 20% after 24 hours of use after only being charged to 88% when I took it off the charger.
Yeah I get that, but it seems like people have more issues with BFS, and I don't know that I've ever seen someone who said that they get better battery life with it. But I haven't exactly gone looking for that info much either. I just flashed SZ 1.1.0 BFS by the way. So far it seems fine, seems about as responsive as CFS for me.Depends on what you are looking for bfs typically is better performance though if your screen is off enough you may get better battery. Basically consider cfs more flat line kind of performance and bfs a higher peaks and lower valleys...

What will I start seeing of my phone doesn't like it? Just general lag? Liking it so far...no issues yet and it seems responsive. Well see how the battery life turns out. I am going to try to give it a couple of days.
You'll know if it doesn't like it lol
By the way ever since you mentioned your thread ocd the other day its tempting to just make as many new comments as possible. LOL
Ok I think I see one issue with SZ bfs ...I just had to hit power 2 or 3 times to get my phone to wake up.
