60 Day Worry Free Guarantee w/ Verizon?

I wanted to see if anybody else could confirm this. I just did a mock order on Verizon (picking plans, extras, etc). Once I got to the confirmation page/proceed to checkout page, there was a Verizon ad on the side of the page that stated something to the effects of:

"Purchase a phone between November 15th and December 14th, and get until January 13th to return it if you're not happy."

If this is true, this would be great. I could purchase a Droid or Eris on Nov 15th, test it for 2 months, and at the same time be on the lookout for new phones coming out (Passion?).

If anyone else has more info on this, please post it.

Sounds like their Christmas return policy. Yes, I just did a mock check out too and saw this on the left hand side of the screen:

Holiday Returns: All purchases made between November 15 and December 14, 2009 may be returned or exchanged through January 13, 2010. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless' Return and Exchange policy continue to apply.

But you will have to wait until Nov 15th to purchase of course. And there is the $35 restocking fee listed in the Return and Exchange policy.

as far as the restocking fee goes, this is what it says:

A $35 restocking fee will apply if you exchange your device for a different model or color, or if you return your device and within three days purchase another one.

so, if i wanted to buy the passion or another phone, couldn't i just return my droid/eris, get my money back, wait more than 3 days, then go purchase whatever new phone i wanted?

My wife threw away the box after clipping off the mail-in rebate, so I'm stuck with the Eris. *grumble grumble* My store won't take it back now. (Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely phone, but the battery life leaves much to be desired.)

So be careful that the box doesn't get thrown away if you want to return it.

It didn't work for me. the CS rep said you can only return it if you haven't activated your phone for over 30 days. Bought mine Nov 27, and activated it right when i got it.

I might try again and see if another CS will tell me something different.

Yeah I don't know how that works. When I bought my Droid at full retail they made me activate it right then-and-there. They wouldn't allow me to just buy it and take home without activation. And the mock up order would also send it activated I assume... so not sure what this holiday test drive really is

Probably lets you buy the phone on, say, Nov 30th as a Xmas gift. Then it is opened and activated on Dec 25th and you have until Jan 13th to return it. That way you don't burn your trial period while it's sitting under the tree for a month waiting to be opened. I think any other time of the year, it's 30 days from purchase, which means if you order on their website, the clock starts ticking when you click submit so you burn a day waiting for it to arrive at your door.

Did you put up much of a fight when u tried to return it? U don't seem too mad about it. Hopefully if they give me the same bs, ill just show them the receipt and say it says nothing about "30 days from activation" bullshit, and also say the guy who checked me out confirmed what was on the receipt when I asked specifically about it.

so i went and did the return tonight. it went fine. i called 611 first and he confirmed it. went to the store, and refunded all my money. initially he didnt cancel my contract, just refunded the money. then when i brought it up, he canceled it. no ETC, no restocking fee. couldn't be happier. now im gonna use a cheap lil phone on tmo until i decide what to do: nexus one with tmo? nexus one with VZW? possibly a passion in the near future for VZW?
