Root root error Galaxy S i9000 signature failed

Hy guys, I spend many hourd trying to root my samsung galaxy s i 9000 with android 2.2.1...when I'm trying to apply update.zip it says there is a signature failed...I read a lot of forums and I tried a lot of things...nothing works, can you please help me guys? Thank you

You need to flash the Kernel first to get into 2e Recvovery. The easiest way is to flash a rooted Kernel. This one for example. You have to flash it with ODIN.
