Why does contact offer send message for work phone?

The Contacts list offers send message for every number in the contacts not just the Mobile numbers.

Is there a way to fix this. For people I don't contact often I can't tell which number is correct since the same area code is used in Hawaii for landlines and mobile.

I have the same problem. I list all numbers again (partners mobile, home, mobile,) in Notes, than compare the list to send my text to the right number. Incredible complicated for one of the biggest software's..

You don't have to go that far. The message numbers are listed in the same order as the phone numbers...
