Am I the only one without 2.3OTA?

Yes you are the last. Verizon said they were going to push it out to the beautiful people first, then go on down the line until they got to the very ugliest of the uglies. And since you're the last one to get it, well...

Ha ha, hahahaha... just playin my guy. There's no update yet. Just two Motorola RC's. I'm on RC 1. Didn't see any reason to go to RC 2 personally.

I would say "damn you motorola and verizon!" but considering that only the nexus phones have 2.3 and my previous phone was a samsung fascinate( ummmm 2.1 still), I guess I should consider myself lucky to be a droid x owner with gingerbread here anyday. Thank you verizon for swapping my phones out!!!!

I must be one of the ugly ones. Anyway, I remember when I was still rockin' the LG Ally. On the forums, everyone was working themselves into a frenzy over when Froyo was coming to the phone. People were in hysterics about its arrival date. So much so, that they forgot to simply enjoy their phones.

My philosophy is that I'll get it when I get it. Until then, I have a nice phone that I can have fun with.

Has Verizon given any official word on what the update version will be?

Back in the Blackberry days, people would fret over installing the "official" VZW update vs the exact same version leaked online.

If VZW has announced it and it's available, I'll install. If not I can wait for OTA. Getting very frustrating googling "Droid X Gingerbread" everyday and seeing different news results saying it's out, delayed a month, etc.

VZW hasn't said jack about releasing GB on the X - no dates, no expectations, nada.

Colchiro, I've been thinking of buying a Nook just to root and install Android. Are you happy with the Nook converted to a tablet?

Very. I hardly spend any time with my X these days. Phiremod rom is great. It's CM7 with a theme and tweaks. OC's from 800 to 1100. :D

What are RCs? I knew people had a leak going around, but I didn't see anything about there being two.

That was a little root/ROM humor there. RC stands for 'release candidate'. When a dev comes up with a new ROM, it's a lot easier to get it as stable as possible, then release it as an RC 1 and let the masses download it. Then when the feedback comes back about all the bugs it has in it, they do as best a job as they can to take care of all those issues, and then release that version as an RC 2, and so on and so forth until they find a release candidate that everyone is pretty happy with, and then they call it the stable version.

I was simply joking around implying that Verizon was intentionally releasing all these leaks as RC's untl everyone was happy with it...

If you want Gingerbread on the Droid X, just follow the instructions to get the leaked "OTA" update. I trust the developers and hackers on the various forums a LOT more than I trust Verizon or Motorola when it comes to installing a rom that won't screw with your phone if you're rooted. If you accept one of Motorola and Verizon's OTA updates, do so with extreme caution, it will, as a given, immediately un-root your phone and may prevent you from re-rooting for the immediate future.

I haven't installed it, I'm just going to wait for the OTA (one day). All I know is that every gingerbread announcement for the X and 2.2 froyo announcement for the Samsung Fascinate has had 0 credibility.

Lesson learned? Stay away from internet "bloggers." They do nothing but add question marks onto their topics, thus spreading false rumors and just looking to get a few hits on their web sites for ad sponsor money.

You have much greater faith in Motorola and Verizon than I do. Give me a custom rom ANY day, over an OTA update - in **developers**, I trust.

It would sure be nice to hear something official from Verizon and Motorola about the two RC's and when an OTA can be expected... that said I suspect it'll be a while till they announce anything.

Don't hold your breath for a coherent explanation. Both companies are excessively secretive and don't feel the need to bring their subscribers up to date on what's going on.
