Root Ninjamorph Issues - Deodexed GB .588

I just went the to the p3 GB leaked with root 3part patch install file, then deodexed with the Juiced theme.

P3 patch with root (thanks p3): http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...erbread-2-3-3-4-5-588-install-patch-root.html

Deodex (thanks bouchigo!): http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...odexed-gingerbread-4-5-588-a.html#post2571731

Juiced theme (thanks mcp770): http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ch-juice-2-3-gingerbread-theme.html#post64245

I am having issues with Ninjamorph replacing icon's in applications. I was able to successfully change 1 application (GO SMS) and can change certain icon's in some apk's (gmail, dock, clock, framework, systemui). However, I cannot change them all.

I have never had a issue using Ninjamorph to "exchange" icon's in any previous builds using a variety of methods (i.e. one at a time through Ninjamorph, mulitiple using a computer and copy/paste). Reboots, cache cleaning, etc, does not work. It seems to be more menu related than anything (in the program, clicking menu, etc.), but again I cannot change any notification icons either.

So, does this seem to be a Ninjamorph thing. Juiced theme thing or a GB thing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

UPDATE: I was using Ninjamorph Pro and Pro keeps giving a mounting error when you launch it and just closes. You have to go in to setttings-applications and Ninjamorph Pro and force close it, then relaunch. Dont' ask me how or why, but it will launch. Also, I updated my GB doedex with bouchigo's file as of 4/20).

I was unable to ninjamorph the 3G icons as well all i got was constant force closes so I have been posting around hoping someone with more talent than myself could make a .zip to change 3G to 4G

Those icons are in the systemui.apk (system->app->systemui.apk) as well as alarm, signal, bluetooth, silent, vibrate icons.

As from the update above, this kind of worked for me, but it's a major pain in the butt.

1. You have to make sure that before you start your project, you must enable "debug mode" in the settings of NINJAMORPH, as well as in settings-applications-development.
2. If you are changing status bar icons, you will find half of them in the systemui.apk.
3. If you are using Ninjamorph PRO, you will almost certainly get a "close" when you run it the 1st time. Again, go to settings-applications-Ninjamorph and force close it, then relaunch (I found this at Droid X Forums):
Ninjamorph app on Gingerbread. 588

I did send a note to the developer and I need to send him a log (which I have no idea how to do - yet), so that's what I know for now.

The one thing that I cannot get to work is gmail. It replaced a couple images, but status notify icon and menu icons will not work. I tried to resign, zipalign, etc and this one will not take. What the crap?

Hopefully more to come.

I found the icons after awhile, but when I tried to change them out and thought I was totally done I got constant FC'es of my status bar. I think it may be in how they are named because in the tutorial on XDA of how to change them it says that they pictures are named correctly, but I think the new GB has a new name for them.

Also any chance you know where the Moto SMS notification icon is I have been looking for it and can't find it anywhere all i was able to find was the SMS send failed one

You have to reboot since you made the change to the status bar (probably going to have to do a battery pull). Once you reboot, you will be okay.

This should be in the messaging.apk or textmesssing.apk

Nope the SMS icon is not in either of those places I checked messaging.apk and there were not icons I could find to change out and the textmessaging.apk does not exist

Wow. I looked too and found nothing. It has to be in there but considering that I can't get my gmail to theme (including the status icon), I'm again sure that I am under qualified. Will keep on it.

Since using the deodex file I listed above from bouchigo, the theming has been working and I can change individual images as normal. The only exception seems to be the gmail icon (attached pic) and the gmail.apk. The notifier is in gmail.apk and framework so changing it has been my only issue. I have changed images on the BWC and Juiced themes, so I'm fairly confident the errors were from the p3 deodex and airmaxx deodex file I was using (w/ no disrepect to either of these fine posters as their stuff is a great help to this community).

I cannot get this image to change for the life of me. Same with menu option images. Really torking me off. I have tried zipalign, resigning, reinstalling in all different combinations. I am starting to wonder if it has something to do with restoring system data and programs via a backup software program that is "overwriting" something somewhere. The misery continues.

So I messed around with a couple different themes (BWC and Juiced) and used a couple different deodex's.

This weekend I started fresh with a new Zombie Rom off rooted GB. It deodexed and I tried the same hats and habits and tricks to image change on gmail. No dice. With BWC or Juiced theme. SO?!? Ugh.

I am reaching out to the themer of Juiced to see if they might have some spare time in the next week or so to see if they can change up the menu icons and such (with the other being the obvious gmail status notify icon that remains the same). If it's just me, then I understand. I am a tool. If not, well then I sleep easier at night knowing that people way smarter than me have an issue and I can let it go. It's all about me. :)

Ok, so I have rooted to the .595 leak and was finally able to theme everything. EXCEPT gmail.apk! I can do everything except the menu. Very frustrating and at this point, I'm not sure why I care. Largley, because I can't do it. That would be the biggest reason. Son of a ....

PS. Using Gingercomb Juiced w/ minor theme icon changes.

I had no issues using NM Pro under FroYo. I am now .596 GB via SBF, 2 Part Method, with DeOdexed. I can edit SystemUI okay but changing even ONE icon in Framework causes FC's in numerous applications.

For Framework do I Install or just copy? Do I Zip Align?

I did NOT have Debug Mode checked in NM Pro Settings. Is that my problem?

Strange thing is that after hosing Framework doing a Recovery Restore will not fix the phone. I have to SBF, 2-Part, and DeOdex again.

I did learn that to do a Droid 2 Recovery Restore you must run your last GB install again before leaving Clockwork. For me that is .596 Rooted/DeOdexed over the top of the Restore.
