Any GOOD 3.5 earpieces: Any Recommendations

I don't want a bluetooth to use, i'm looking for a 3.5 plug-in connector to use, should i say direct wired... earpiece, headset, earbuds...

i want to be able to answer and end calls with it.

I'm using these:
Handsfree Earphone Headphone with Mic for iPhone 2G 3G - eBay (item 150390743521 end time Nov-21-09 12:03:29 PST)

they work great. I like the earplug fit that reduces background noise. Just search ebay for 'iphone headset mic' and you'll find a bunch of great stuff. Button works to start/stop music and mute phone calls.

They look good but i want to ANSWER and END calls with a button, i don't need music controls.

great, so how is that the headset's fault? That is software. Right now the droid doesn't do that, maybe they will change it, maybe there's an app, but it doesn't matter what headset you use, you're not gonna be able to end the call without a bluetooth headset.

Motorola Droid Original Stereo Hands-Free Headset S280 - (OEM) SYN1458

Someone indicated above the you can not answer or end call with remote button on corded headset on the driod. Above is a link to a corded headset that plugs into the usb port and claims to be able to answer/end call with remote button.

Does anyone know anything about these.

Of course if you use the usb port for headset then you can't use the car charger.

Was digging around for information on this today also. Verizon CSR tells me that this Bose headset will work, including the button to answer/end calls:

Bose Mobile In-Ear Headset - Bose Headsets and Headphones

There is another, cheaper headset on the Verizon site for $25 that the CSR told me should be compatible. He suggested to go to a Verizon store and ask to try it out with my Droid before purchasing.

I also called Zagg today and they told me that their earbuds should work, but could not guarantee it.

They have a 45 day money-back return policy, so seems fairly low risk to do a "try buy". Not sure what I'm going to do yet....

I just ordered the mono corded headset that plugs into the usb port on the droid. It is advertised as being able to answer and end calls via the botton near the inline microphone. When I get it I will update this thread with the results. I have bought two other corded headsets and both had a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter (which I disliked) and neither could end calls from the button. Had to fish the phone out of my pocket to hang up. I hope this third try is a charm.

V-Moda Vibe II Chrome Rouge Headphones

Sealed V-Moda Vibe II Chrome Rouge Headphones iPhone - eBay (item 230398906290 end time Dec-12-09 11:22:02 PST)

I just got pair of these in the mail after somebody on these boards recommended me this brand, and i can tell you that with an press of an button you can receive incoming calls and even though i don't have any music on the phone yet, it also brings up the music player when you press the button as well. Songs from Pandora sounded excellent.

Even though buy it now price is listed as $119, which is pricey. If you send him an offer for $40, he might accept it. I did and got them for $40.

I ordered the Motorola Droid Mico USB earbud handsfree headset (OEM SYN1472) from motoroladroidaccessories.com thru Think Mobile Solutions and it did not function at all. I called Think Mobile Solutions and the customer support explained that their website incorrectly identified this headset as working for Droid, so bummer. They were very nice and refunded my money without having to hassle sending back the non functional headset. Have to keep trying.

Just purchased the IDR400m's for my Droid. But alas, the mic does not work. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just my pair? I am hoping that this is not normal, as I can no longer return them. Please help!

My idrm400ms work fine except the button on mic can only answer calls and mute the mic during a call. It can not end calls. If pressing the button during a call doesn't work to mute or unmute the call then I think your mic is broken.

The button works fine, I am able to play/pause music as well as answer calls. The only thing that doesn't work is the mic. I can live without being able to end calls from the remote but the non-functioning mic pretty much renders these earphones useless. Thanks for your quick response, it is definitely reassuring that someone's mic is working.

I think this is a problem with the Android OS.

I have the Monster Beats Solo headphones, and they have a mic built into the cord, and it does not work either. The buttons, which are supposed to control volume, just turn on shuffle.

Most of these headsets are built with the iPhone in mind, so perhaps Android OS interprets the signals differently (there should be a standard for all phones!).

Still, the mic should be easy enough. The only connection it makes is that third ring around the headphone jack. That's definitely standard across all devices...
