Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

Full HDMI for HTC EVO 4G (green icon) and TV Shows Stream are among my favorite so far. As someone else mentioned, I love mirroring everything from my phone to my TV, comes out real nice. But the TV Shows Stream app is definitely a winner. Definitely worth the money to get it. I have all types of SEASONS bookmarked of my favorite shows. My fiance cannot put my Evo down and she drains the mess out of my battery every time shes on it, lol.

Shameless ;)

I'll download it and give it a go.

Cheers,
Sombre.

Edit Wow, this is a really neat APP. If more people use it I can see it becoming incredibly useful.

Yeah, that's the only reason I'm not using it-- it seems like an amazing idea, but next to worthless if it's not really popular. If it gets big I'd love it... but without being able to rely on someone at the place I need using it, when I need it... it's little more than a novelty.

As a newbie just beginning to get a "feel" for what Apps are available....2/3 of these posts are not giving any clue to just simply stating "what" these applications "do".

It's unfortunate the OP did not stipulate a brief description should accompany each post response. I am not the only newbie whose search leads to this discussion thread...I would like to think we are all newbies once.

How about a little more info?

I read through this whole post and downloaded and tried out quite a few apps. Honestly, I didn't really like the swype keyboard too much, although I have a moto cliq so I have a physical keyboard, and I like that better.

Anyhow onto my favs, many have been mentioned already, listed alphabetically since that's how they show up LOL

  • ADW Launcher - Has skins you can add, with custom icons.
  • Akinator - Guessing game, you think of a "character" and he tries to guess it. I've drained my battery sooo many times trying to trick him and I've done it a few times!
  • Angry Birds - This is a common one. My 4 year old actually plays it more than I do LOL I have the Holiday version, regular version and RIO version
  • Amazon Appstore - FREE paid app everyday! Can't beat that!!
  • AutoSMS - Can't believe none of these types of apps were mentioned. AutoSMS allows you to save custom SMS messages to autoreply to people when you turn it on. CT has a no cell phone while driving law, so I have one I setup while I'm driving. Then I have another I setup when I go to meetings at work.
  • Contapps - I tried several similar apps, but this one seems to work the best. It includes widgets for your home screen and everything. It also syncs your facebook friends with your contact list so their facebook pictures show up. That's what I mainly use it for.
  • Facebook - If you don't know what facebook is, you've been living under a rock....
  • Foursquare - I am the mayor of a lot of Dunkin Donuts LOL
  • Fruit Ninja -Another one of the 4 year old's favorites, she rocks this game, I can't play it to save my life. LOL You chop fruit in half with a samurai sword (your finger swiping)
  • Handcent - I've tried other messaging apps, but always go back to handcent...
  • Healthy Recipes by sparkpeople - Gives you healthy recipes from sparkrecipes.com. If you're battling the bulge like most of us are, this is a helpful app to view recipes on while cooking. Using my phone is a lot easier in the kitchen then lugging my laptop around with me.
  • Juice Defender - Saves battery life
  • Link2SD - Links your apps to your SD Card, you may have to be rooted for this app...
  • Metamorph - Another app I can't believe isn't mentioned, but maybe a lot of members of this forum aren't rooted?? Anyhow, it allows you to import custom themes to your phone. I've changed my battery indicator, signal, and some other notification bar icons. You have to be rooted for this app, and ensure you find a theme that matches your ROM. Or if you're Photoshop friendly (like I am) you can make your own from your ROM
  • PicSay Pro - LOVE IT edit your photos, there's a free version too
  • Shuffletone - Another I don't believe I saw on here, and it does not require root access LOL. It shuffles through ringtones YOU select for your text notifications and phone calls. I get bored easily, so this spices it up for me.
  • TD Bank - My bank's app, use it daily
  • Timeriffic - I saw the developer of this WONDERFUL app is a member of this site! I love this! No longer do I get awoken at 2AM to a SPAM e-mail from Victoria's Secret LOL
  • Titanium Backup - A must have for any root user, especially one like me who likes to "shop around" for ROMS LOL - Oh it backs up ALL your apps and their data
  • TweetCaster - I just started using this Twitter app recently and I like it so far, mainly because I was able to customize the colors of the widget LOL
  • Visual Voicemail - This app is from t-mobile.. your carrier may have it too... its so much easier to do it on your screen than to dial the # then press 7 to delete ETC.
That about sums it up for me for now... I've had my phone for over a year, and I've been rooted for about 4 months.

I love live profile lately.... but does anyone know how much data it consumes???

It looks good but when I try to attach a picture from the gallery it doesn't work but if I use the camera it works. Have you experienced any problems?

I don't think it will use much data at all. Similar apps such as Ping and Whatsapp don't use much and I suppose it's whether you are sending text, pictures or videos. I have been a heavy picture/video uploader via these means and have not exceeded my 1GB of data allowance.

I'm sure you have much bigger things to worry about like YouTube and Facebook ;)

Phone must be rooted so I don't think so.

Agreed. I too made the jump from Handcent to Go and I am not looking back (tho one advantage of Handcent is that my notification LED worked perfectly with Handcent while it isn't working too great with Go, same with the LauncherPro dock unread counts). Despite that, the smoothness of Go makes me hesitant to find another.

I'm kind of a comic book nerd (hey, if I can't be a nerd on androidforums, where can I be?) and I stopped buying comics a few years ago, there just wasn't enough incentive to spend $4 on a comic I'm going to read once and put in a box...

but I've got to say comiXology on my android is amazing. If you like comics, check it out... it's a fantastic example of entertainment embracing the new medium, instead of trying to keep it out. $2 a pop for most of the big titles (DC, etc.) and $.99 for smaller indie comics-- a great way to read some fantastic titles you wouldn't otherwise be exposed to. Add to that nearly every title has a free first issue to see if you like it... and it's pretty cool.

My favorite app so far (not counting widgets, launchers, replacements for stock apps...)

edit: only problem is Marvel has an iOS exclusive... d'oh!
