Best Case For Optimus V

I finally got my Otterbox Commuter for my Optimus V today. Fits great! It is a thick silicone sleeve with a hard plastic back that snaps over the gel. It makes the phone feel much sturdier. It also has silicone over all the buttons on the side. The microSD slot is covered by the hard plastic, but you can get to it through the silicone.

There is a flap that covers the headphone port as well as the USB port. The case came with a screen protector, I purchased a 5 pack from Amazon. They have what looks like a notch for an LED on the Optimus S, not familiar with the phone so not 100% sure if that is what it is. The screen protector from Otterbox does not have the notch however.

The notch is for the proximity sensors. Here's from LG's Optimus V manual:

"Proximity Sensors sense proximity towards other objects (such as your head) so that touch commands are not accidentally activated during a call.

NOTE Please be careful not to cover the sensors with a protective film, pouch, or a protective case not authorized by LG."

Wow that really fit with the Otterbox? I have the same thing but for the S and I have to wedge it in there and can only get it about 1/4th of the way in the case before the silicone starts to stretch.

Yep. Fits. Only a small thing, nothing really... is that depending on if you're a stickler for making the flap overlap perfectly, the just massage the flap onto the magnetized piece.

Here's a vid.

Hard to control a phone and case while recording with the other hand.

Got this one on Amazon, expecting it tomorrow or Saturday. I'll post pics then. Reviews seemed to be good and it cost me like $3.50, I figured it was worth the risk.

Just got it. The people who sent it to me sent me a different generic case than shown in the photo, this one. More than likely same quality. Also, in the past 2 or 3 days the last reviews for the one I ordered were composed of 1 2-star review and 2 1-star reviews. I can see why too. The inside of the case was made of a very cheap hard, chalky plastic that felt like it could scratch my phone. The thing was held together by cheap plastic snap-connecters that feel like they may break when I pull the thing apart. Pretty sure I'll just buy an otterbox now.

Update: People I ordered from gave me a refund and I get to keep the case. $3.79 more towards the Otterbox. Amazon's price has risen $3 on them in the past 3 days, but I may as well wait till Monday to order.

I currently have this case on my phone.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E3087E

I wanted to go cheap and able to put it on my Soundgate M2 car mount. Unfortunately, I dropped my phone on ceramic tile in my house from about 5 feet the other day. The phone landed with the screen facing down horizontally with the tile. When I picked it up the screen was not cracked, but the screen was not functional (it turns on but with a vertical white line). I think I replace the screen and fix it. (for another thread).

Anyways, I am looking for a more sturdier case. I contemplating the otterbox or the leather book case which covers the screen, like this one:

I owned an otterbox before on another phone so I know they are good, but I am skeptical it can handle the shock of another fall on my tile or concrete if it fell the same way it did before.

Can anyone provide input on the testing the shock absorption of otterbox and if they would choose the otter over the leather book style case if they were worried about their screen from a fall?

I've got the flip version of the leather case, been using it for several weeks now, and LOVE it. I ALMOST got the book style, but didn't like the hole they left in the back for the camera. The flip version covers it completely - something I need so it doesn't get scratched up in my purse - but is designed to just open up a little further to allow you to use the camera when needed. Exactly what I needed.

Bought the Otterbox for the Optimus V at Amazon today. I was thinking about the Body Glove with the belt clip. It was only $15 as opposed to the $25 Otterbox. Read a few reviews though about the Body Glove popping apart when dropped. So I sprung for the Otterbox.

kcobra, can you please provide a link for what you got? There's lots of otterbox stuff on there.

How is it working out for you?
