Hello!

The store has a number of games that I know little about and the pocket playstation section only has about 6 old PSX games to buy.

I was just wondering if anyone was aware of any plans for future releases? Im struggling to get much info from the internet!

Thanks

Info is pretty limited at the moment - this area has been a real disappointment so far. None of the PS1 games available to buy are ones I am interested in.

Thankfully, the old-school console emulators (SNES, NES etc) are fantastic. I just wish that one of the Genesis emulators played Toejam & Earl correctly (graphic glitches on the in-game menu make it unplayable), and the same with the NES version of elite (again, screwed up graphics).

Im sure you will be able to get a PSX emulator working on the handset :p

The problem your having with Toejam and Earl will probally be the ROM, try and download the ROM from somewhere else and see how it goes!

Thanks for the update, explains what I already knew about the lack of info but keep us posted! :)

From what I heard, we should be expecting to see games released from software houses such as Activision & EA (titles like COD & Tiger Woods)
I've know idea what the play can actually handle so I've no idea how these games are going to play or how in depth they're going to be.

I sure can't wait to see some developer diaries for the newer titles to see exactly what kind of gaming experience we can expect.

There is no more news. I don't want to advertise for a site I work for on this forum but whenever we get word from Sony or developers about new games coming to market for the Play, I will repost the news in this thread to keep you up to date.

Hey Vark, were you near any of the rough weather on Saturday? That was ROUGH.

PSX games I would love to see fully supported on a device like this (just to name a few):

1. Crash Racing
2. Raiden Project
3. Hotshots Golf 1 & 2
4. Dead or Alive
5. Tobal 2
6. Tekken 3

I am more an arcade style gamer :)

I agree with rushmore on Hot Shots and Tekken, although I think the Bruce Lee game might be good enough for my fighting itch. I think Madden is going to be on the Verizon version instead of FIFA, but I would also like to see some version of MLB The Show. I'm having fun on my PSP getting my jacked up center fielder into the All Star game, breaking records, etc.

Oh yeah, and one more thing - I would pay through the nose for Sid Meier's Pirates game on here...

I wish that was the case! The ROM works fine on the emulator on my PC. I have tried downloading the game from a different source but I get the same problem.

There are some games which just don't work sadly! Toejam & Earl being one, the NES version of Elite being another. Two if my all-time favourites! The SNES game Stunt Race FX doesn't work to well either.

Still, its not too bad as there's so many other classics I can play.

Actually yes, I was. Where I live a pretty giant tree fell down from the wind in our back yard and my fiancee's dad is going to have to redo their vegetable garden that he started working on last year. Pretty crazy. I can test those games on FPse in a few days and get back to you. Or rather, I will report back how each runs as I play them.

FPse is crazy efficient and works well, even on the Incredible. Metal Slug X and NBA Jam Extreme are super smooth with sound (not so with PSX4Droid). The one good thing about PSX4Droid though is it plays eboot pbp files (compressed PSX roms intended for PSP).

If the dev for FPse allowed pbp file format to work, this would save about two thirds more space (on average). The only catch is games with a LOT of multi-media files are the least efficient for compression, so only about 10% savings. Games not multi-media heavy can save 90% of space compared to the other rom formats.

Another person posting absolutes. If you had slow memory, low memory and a slow CPU, perhaps, but most games do not run like crap. In fact, using the PSP, I can not tell the difference and own a US and Japanese PSX. Heck, was first in line at EB Games to buy the PSX, Raiden Project and Battle Toshinden :) I know PSX very well and used to hang out at Game Exhcange at Rathbone Place in London and go though import games :)

Considering every eboot I have tried plays fine on the PSP (I have two 16gb microsd in parallel with special memory stick card= 32gb), seems the Play will not have any issues either.

Some of you folks sure like posting in absolutes.

Added: I have a bunch of eboots on my Incredible and gTablet too. Though PSX4Droid is weak compared to FPse, Crash Racing, Raiden, Dead or Alive, Bloody Roar 2, NFL Blitz 2001, NBA Live 2001 and others play smooth with sound on the gTablet (not so much on the Incredible- slower chipset).

an uncompressed rom will always run better even if it's a little bit on an emulator. and trolling with smiley faces

I am being subjective with my points and trying to be nice, but your absolute stance (that you downgraded in your reply) suggest more troll-like behavior. I have yet to find a game that stutters on the PSP using two class 2 16gb cards set up as one 32gb chip with a memory stick adapter.

Same thing for the gTablet, except games that suck on PSX4Droid, but play bad in pbp, iso, bin and nrg format too (I test them all for games I like).

In summary, you make an absolute statement that I replied to and then accuse me of being a troll. Ironic.
