why would they leave 4g support out of the inc2?

I was first upset about this as well. However, after speaking with Verizon last week I learned that in Arizona (where I live) that 4G will not be available until towards the end of 2012 for their mobile phones. Therefore I will be able to upgrade now to the Dinc2 and again next year, and after that again by the time the next great 4G phone I like comes out. So I am not worried about 4G right now whatsoever.

4G available in Phoenix as I played with a Thunderbolt in the store, blazing fast...

Because it wasn't designed to hold two radio's. There is only room for one, the CDMA one obviously. It's no different than the incredible s in my hand, other than the GSM radio swapped for a VZW capable CDMA one.

not sure i agree with that all the way. If the rumors are true it will hold two radios. The GSM one and the CDMA one since it is rumored to be a Global phone.

lol it's pretty simple.
Why have a TB and Incredible 2 BOTH have 4g. They are very similar devices.

This is a great 3g device for people who want a phone LIKE the thunderbolt but don't want to spend 249+ for it, especially if they have no 4g in there area.

I could care less about 4g. It's pretty pointless for me.
Right now, I am deciding between the Xperia play and now this phone.

But i am curious about the Samsung Droid charge as well. The TB...ehh, upgraded Evo is what it seems to me.

Damn, VZW for making me decide between these 3 phone slol

well i figure it like this.. I dont mind the speed of the 3g, and if I need faster speed these devices have wireless N; Which is blazing fast in itself. Plus if this phone had a 4g
chip in it the battery would be just terrible. Its already atrocious on OG incredible pack that with 4g and you would be looking at like 4-5 hrs regular use.

I agree with your post. Wifi is still the best bet for me. As of right now, i can surf stream download all I want and I don't have to worry about overages or slowtimes.

Using the network's data is cool but i am okay with 3g because 4g is going to make it faster and then i have to deal with overages(if i am with at&t) or throttling

I've used 4g...Evo, Mytouch 4g, and G2....Love it

But it's not a dealbreaker....
I am looking at phones like Incredible 2, Xperia Play, and Kyocera Echo because these phones appeal to me by how they look or the features they have...not what they don't and what other devices may have.

I think the Inc 2 has been rumored and expected since late last year (remember all the rumors in the forum?). IMO, this is a better option than the TB, due to the 4G radio issues, but it appears to have the same overload of bloatware. Blockbuster? Jeepers.

I will wait to see if the LG Rev is as good as the spec rumors. I will take 16gb internal, hdmi out, dedicated video chip, IPS display and Netflix over the HTC bloat.

Again, IF the LG Rev actually pans out.

all phones are probably going to have Bloat no matter what. Bloatware shouldn't be the reason you don't buy a phone.

I've read 1 too many horror stories about battery life on the Thunderbolt so really I don't think having 4G is a big deal yet.

The question is when will battery life be good with 4g and what is the problem? Lack of towers promoting roaming/searching and 3g/4g toggling? OR just the sheer speed?

My guess is it won't be a problem when they provide a battery twice as big ;)

If there are two equal devices and one has a bunch of app bloat and the other has less, I will choose the one with less. Blockbuster verses Netflix would also be a decider. Netflix app is far better and less of a resource hog.

It makes no sense to buy a new phone that is not 4G. This would have been a great phone if it was

It makes no sense TO YOU. Not being rude.

It's just like how some people are quite happy with a feature phone and don't need the capabilities of a smartphone.

Some people really do not need the capabilities of a 4g smartphone, especially if 4g is not in their area.

if i lived in a remote area, I am not going to spend extra money for a phone that I can't use it's full features and instead I'll buy a 3g phone where i can utilize it's features.

I understand so many people in these forums are android enthusiasts but i wish some people wouldn't make generalized statements like that.
