Root Difference in points between custom and official ROM

Everyone root
everyone update to custom rom
but uptill now i dont get what are the differences ? in points ?
Speed ? interface? apps that come with custom ROM ?

Totally depends on what ROM you install. Rooting in general (without using a custom ROM) give you access to parts of the phone that you didn't have before. You can use apps like ShotMe (for screenshots) which you can't without Root access.

As for the ROM's, MoDaCo's ROM is built for speed, and is much quicker than the stock ROM, but there are also AOSP ROM's which are stock android without any of the HTC enhancements. It all depends on what you want from the phone.

i just have few questions
1- So root is a step and then modaco rom is another right?

2- and after what u said, if i installed custom modaco ROM, i wont feel any difference on the screen? i mean no remarkable difference except SPEED right?

3- My hero has :
1.5 firmware
2.73.405.5 Build number
is it easy and no problem to root or install custom rom? or there are specific ROMS to install? i mean like the iPhone, it can be bricked and stuff like that?

4- where can i find the easiest guide to ROOT and install the ROM ?

1. yes that is correct
2. Speed increase is the main differance you will notice, otherwise it will "look" the same as a standard ROM
3. Rooting is fairly safe and simple process, as long as you follow the instructions carefully

To be honest it's a personal choice, If you do a little research and find out what benifits can be gained (somewhere like xda-developers is a good place to start). If you are heppy with the phone as it is then there is no need to root or use a custom ROM. Most users don't see the benifit, so it's not worth the trouble.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..... if you're going to install a MoDaCo ROM then you should carefully read the notes/instructions here before going any further.

'Trouble' in the sense that you have to do something which may be seen a long-winding, boring, tedious process for little benefit (my opinion).
