The root apps i currently have are
1.Rom Manager
2.Absolute System-Can Change font and change boot animations.
3.SetCpu-Velocity 1.0 OC-724 MHZ

What other apps should I need for a rooted device or for the lg ally?

use terminal emulator instead of those apps to save space, just open and type:
su
velocity
then follow directions

Is that why you can OC so high? You didn't install setcpu?

no i just got lucky, some phones cant overclock at all and some can go to the mid 800s. its pretty much random. and setCPU is cool with the batt profiles and it doesnt take up too much space so its up to you

What root apps do you have so far? And I just OC to 787 on terminal like you said. And its working good so far. Because last time I did this with setcppu it like crashed my phone -_-

My old phone ran 806 all day. My replacment will do 748, only notice the difference when trying to play games. Buy anyhow . . . Titanium backup!! Definitely my number one. The velocity script and terminal emulator do most of the rest.

Titanium Backup is, most definately my most valuable app for root stuff! TB Pro is even cooler and it's saved my ass more than once. I'd be lost without it.

Top of my list would be a custom ROM either Velocity or Frunisher as they come with most of the below listed

SU of course
Busy Box
Terminal Emulator
Titanium Backup Pro
some kind of cache cleaner like Cache Mate
Wireless Tether or Barnacle
Astro or Root Explorer
set cpu if you don't go with a custom ROM that supports built in overclocking
Can't forget getitnowmarketings amon ra recovery in any list

Mines at 748 while my MOTHERS is at 844 lol talk about unfair!

What do you use ROM Manager for? Isn't it kind of useless with the Ally and Amon RA?

I use Root Explorer and Velocity scripts to change boot animations and fonts. I also make my own font flashable zips.

What everyone else said about setcpu.

ROM Manager is still good for fixing permissions. But that's about all I use it for. I paid for premium a while back so I kinda have to keep it ya know. However, my recovery got weird on me a few weeks ago and I had to use clockwork to get back into recovery to reflash amonra. So, I suppose it still comes in handy at times!

Nah man, I'm not hatin' on it by any stretch. It's just not as compatible with Velocity as Amonra. I've also had many issues with recovery screwin' up with Clockwork in the past. It has helped me many times as well. I still dig it for some stuff ya know! It's all good!!
