Anyone got the 2.1 OTA zip?

My dads phone had a slight freak out and I tried a factory reset in recovery anf just a plain old battery pull since his phone won't boot past the three skating droid dudes. So either could someone link me to the zip or suggest anything else besides taking it back to vzw?

I've done it for my x but can anyone help me out with getting it done on an eris? Possibly a walkthrough?

Are you talking about spf files for an Eris? You will not find them; the Eris does not use spf files.

I gave you the link above to a download location for every PB00IMG file that the Eris uses. You probably want the leak V3 PB00IMG.zip file. Put that file on your SD card, restart the phone in HBOOT mode (hold down VolDn while restarting the phone.) It should detect the PB00IMG.zip file and walk you through installing it.

But, before you do anything else - is this phone rooted? If yes, was it rooted with a Clockwork Recovery image?

It's a Windows app that installs the official update over USB from a Windows PC. (As a Mac user, I've never used it myself. But I understand that's how it works.)

So my phone is only downloading 21.09kB of any zip file from mega upload... That happens to be the only sure I can download from too... Any ideas? I dont have a pc or internet.

I've had better luck with Opera Mini than the stock browser for downloading (esp. when Multiupload is involved).

Give it a try.

I got it downloaded with firefox but the phone loss and checks the file then goes back to the hboot screen. Should I try the ruu? Or is there another option?

Well, I'm more familiar with boot screen hangs for rooted phones, lol...

I can only give you some general guidance here...

You didn't say exactly what "the file" was that you downloaded (the v3 leak, I'm assuming...). Re-loading the v3 leak on your phone should not be an issue since you mentioned that it was what was on there previously.

Also, what messages, error or warning, were reported when it was trying to be loaded? Did it say something "bad/invalid signature"? (I can't remember the exact wording...).

Was the file named PB00IMG.zip (v3 leak) when you put it on the phone? Did you verify the MD5 checksum of the file (the boot loader will not load a file with a bad signature). If you downloaded the v3 leak on your X, then use my AFV app or Astro File Manager to double-check the MD5 checksum just to make sure that its a good file.

This is my dads phone so it didn't have the v3 leak and thats what I downloaded. There was no errors. It just said loading and the blue bar loaded and then ur said checking pb00img.zip and then it went right back to the hboot. Md5 I'll check in a bit.. I've never had an md5 problem though....

When you download the leak V3 file from the link it is not named PB00IMG.zip, but Eris_LeakV3_v2.36.605.1_PB00IMG.ZIP instead. You need to rename the file to just PB00IMG.ZIP (that's letter p letter b double zero letter i letter m letter g period letter z letter i letter p). If you are doing this on the phone and not over USB you should be able to rename the file with Astro file manager.

The restart in HBOOT mode. I can't remember exactly what happens next but it should be pretty obvious when the phone finds the PB00IMG.zip file.
