All these problems most of you are having....

I am not having a single issue with my phone, not a one. No contacts missing ,backlights not working, no rebooting on its own I absolutley love my Droid ,it even took two drops and not even a bruise. How many other of you are not having any issue with your DROID ?

Depends on what you mean by "issues." Some people think small things are huge issues, but to others, those are just minor nuisances that are intrinsic to the "rough around the edges" Android OS. Others expect perfection, while some others can deal with minor quibbles.

My phone and the OS itself is working fine. No issues there. Sure, there is a learning curve but that's not the phone's fault.

I have the original Droid that I bought on launch day. Some apps have slowed the phone down or made it act up, but I only download a few at a time so it is easy to find the app causing the problem and remove it. I have only turned it off a few times since I've had it and I haven't had to pull the battery. I don't use an app killer and the battery will last between one and to days on average.

I can't remember what I had before my Droid - I think it was a BB. Ha!

A couple of "quirks" but those have all been overcome. Yeah, mine has reboot itself twice (both times were when I wasn't even using the device and didn't lose a single bit a data) ... but that's right on par with my old BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices.

All in all, this is a phenomenal device! I constantly find myself turning it on to look something up or to entertain myself. I think back on some of my old "smart phones" and i'm amazed at how far we've come with technology. This phone has truly raised the bar and given a new meaning to the word "smart" phone.

Maybe it's just a "Joe thing". Aside from me screwing with too many apps, and installing the occasional new ROM, my DROID has exceeded my every expectation. Bravo Google! Bravo Motorola! (And a golf clap to you Verizon.)

The only ( I guess problem if you want to call it that) the GPS Satelitte by the clock stays on all the time. I did a battery pull and it showed up & never went away. I have killed all apps that would use the GPS and it appears to stay stuck up there. Did numerous battery pulls and it just stays there.

Excellent thread. I sometimes wonder if these people are quibbling over little things. newsflash: All devices are buggy. Buggy Apps on top of a Buggy OS on top of Buggy Firmwear on top of Buggy Hardware.

Then again, I'm a reformed programmer.. so I understand that it is neigh miraculous that any technology works. and I also understand nothing is perfect. Learn to work with your tools and use your God given brain to overcome the shortcommings of a man-made device!

Are you saying that it is RIGHT next to the time? Do you also have a battery icon as well? The reason I ask is, that is the wrong place for the GPS icon. From right-to-left, it should be: Time, Battery, Cell Signal, 3G/WiFi, GPS.

I have the "Power Widget" on my main home screen. This is the stock one that came with my Droid. I turn the GPS off when I'm not using a map app. Before I launch google maps or anything location based I just click the little GPS icon on the Power Widget then launch the program. Never had an issue with the GPS staying on when it wasn't supposed to.

+1 to Teschoen! I download this forum every hour into my RSS reader and as I look at the different problems people are having I always think to myself ... "I wonder what app they just installed five minutes ago?". There are some apps on the Market that I've downloaded that have slowed my Droid down to a snail's pace in January. But as soon as I uninstall them, I'm right back to the good old Droid I know and love. (and I mean true love) I have hard reset the device back to factory default a couple of times, but each time was a scenario of my own making that I learned something from. Stand alone, without thurd party apps, this device is amazing. And when a user brings it home, it does everything it was advertised to do, and more!

Well, I am not having an issue with my Droid.

My family members, on the other had, have taken great issue with my Droid. They seen to think that the time I used to spend cooking dinner, doing laundry and talking to them is ill used on the Droid.

mines been pretty solid....an the gos indicator is far left of the right dock icons.....so I think you are looking at the battery.

I haven't had any problems with mine either. I still have my droid from launch day. I really love this phone, its just like having my laptop, camara, gps, and cell phone in one. Every feature on this phone works great! Just gotta watch those bad apps, they will screw it up FAST.

The phone is great, one or two things I wished were different but I can adjust.

Problem Resolved Come to find out it was Latitude always stating my location. BIG UPS To Verizon, I got a text stating someone could always find my location with latutude on. I usually just saw that satellite when i pulled up maps or weather. So I unchecked GPS in the location & security menu and the icon went away.

No issues with my Droid and really, no buggy behavior out of the apps I have chosen to install. The ones that seemed to make the phone sluggish, I got rid of. I like not having to close apps with a task manager!

I can't go this far. I love the UI of Android, WinMo is so old and tired. OEMs have to skin WinMo just to spice it up. But WinMo has an edge on how well it plays with others, specifically exchange syncing. Yes there are apps that make exchange syncing for business users much better, but lb for lb, just stock, WinMo blows Android out of the water in that arena.

There are also quirky things about Android that I feel WinMo got right and Android got wrong. I think Android is *better* than WinMo, but it still has some things to work out. You figure, WinMo is on 6.5, Android is just on 2.0.1 so some of this makes sense.

In any event, my Droid works fine, it works as it is *supposed* to, I just think some of the ways it is *supposed* to work are a little bass-akwards. And for a google OS, there is a lot of integration with google that is missing. Things like integration with google docs, tasks, reader, etc should all be standard on the phone--you shouldn't need an app for that. Heck, microsoft charges an arm and a leg for Office, but WinMo devices come with email, notes and tasks that sync with outlook and exchange, and Word and Excel already installed, but Android has none of this integrated with their online apps. I call that a fail.

My last phone was a RAZR, so you can see where I'm coming from. And like I say in my profile, I've basically retired my Garmin, mp3 player, XM radio, bubble level D), etc.
