When running CWM does it have to be on the SD card for the phone or do you run it from your computer harddrive?

HOW TO INSTALL CYANOGENMOD6 PORT (CM6)

follow directions in first two posts. skip removing bloatware and just backup your apps.

after you do that come back and download these files.

google apps- Downloading GApps...

move the .zip from downloads to the main area of your sd card (if you download from your phone) using file manager.

alternatively you can plug your phone into your pc and move it manually by dragging from the download folder and dropping it in the main area.

I have a question about the section in bold. Just a clarification: if you're on Cricket then then download only the 2 Cricket files and if you're Metro then only download the 2 Metro files to your sd card, right??

No. Pick one depending in your carrier. The only difference is the launcher. (Home screen style). Zeam is really basic and adw is prettier and more customizable.

I did all the steps for the cwm 6 & the 2 post be4 that, & my 3g on crcket & my internet on my phone is not working(o also my 3g icon is flashing), this is my first time to do anything like this but I read the guide over & over & I thot I could do it, but I dont know what Im doing, I can still sent & receive call but Im not sure about the texting I have not used that yet.

can anyone elaborate on DT Apps2sd that came with icarus 1.1. i've got it all setup per the more detailed guide in this post. but im curious to know what apps are on there, and whats apps aren't. because my phone still seems to be taking space from int storage for several of my apps, as well as the partition for apps2sd. perhaps a quick rundown of its operation is in order.

I turn it on and it show a text saying Error and it does not turn on.
how can I fix it?

The most recent build does not need the metroOFF flash. My only advice is to re flash cm6 (without the metroOFF fix).

Q: Where is apps2sd? Why can't I turn it on?

A: That's because it's already on. It runs as a background process that automagically moves apps from the internal storage/cache to the EXT2 partition on your SDCard. Should any problems arise, I will post instructions on making sure DT's apps2sd is functioning correctly.

Q: Where can I check if apps2sd is running correctly?

A: That requires a little knowledge of the terminal and/or ADB. I use ADB, but I'm assuming you can use a terminal emulator. To check if DT's apps2sd is functional, simply run this ADB command:
adb /system/bin/a2sd check

Q: You said we have apps2sd, but my storage space is still draining?

A: Regardless of apps2sd, the phone still uses internal storage for caching things (Web pages, Market, etc.). While you will use SOME memory over time, most of it will be released at some point (reboot, auto-clearing). If you're sure you've done everything correctly, try running the a2sd check and see what's wrong. It might be that you just need to re-partition your SDcard correctly.

now my wifi is not working, it was working this morning, but I turn it off be cus I was trying to run off the network, and now my network is not working & my wifi is not working. Maybe I should try doing everything again.

Whenever something is not working right i always recommend reflashing. When it comes to which one is better it is personal preference cm6 is faster but cm7 is more visually appealing. Best bet is to flash both and choose.

Not on my phone. Cm7 is faster for mine. Cm6 sort of drags a little bit. I guess it just depends on your phone and your settings. ^.^

Only major negative I know for Cm7 is the already stated fact of having no camcorder.

Ok, this is were I've gotten so far, I flash my phone again but now to CM7 & the wifi worked fine & I had it like that for awhile, but the 3g & internet was still not working, so I use titanium backup to restore, then my wifi stooped working & my 3g & internet ahhhh! Ok so now Im back a square1 I would ges that its the restore thats not working right Im going to try it again, but try to activate my phone from cricket see if that works.

no. i just use the card reader on the mac.

I did reflash it and now it is working, thanks.
Finally the bluetooth is working for calling.

Multiple text is a fault of the networks not the roms

It did'n work if any one has an Ida let me know.
Here are the problems Im having:

1. 3g is not working, 3g just flashes on\off, and in my settings/about phone/Status it says Mobile network state: Connecting/Connected.

2. My internet is not working on my phone, & don't know if that has to do with the 3g or not, also when I try to use titanium backup to restore, my wifi stops working, so I did not restore on the last flash.

I have CM7 and everything els works good alot better then when I first got my phone.

I can call/receive calls and send/receive texts I can take pics so far so good, except the things I listed above.

I downloaded it from Market and installed it. Then just run it like any other app!

My phone will not move it to the SD card, it is on the phone, and I have App2SD.

First of all, great job on the customization guide. Was able to load CM7 no problem. I am using 04162011. I've configured the apn as described and the checkbox is checked, but am only able to received mms, not send. I've looked at other posts and some have username and password info set in the apn config, but in the guide they are <not set>. Is this correct?

Ok i have a question. when i flashed to the latest cm7 with mms, i never partitioned my sdcard. Can i still do that without redoing everything and is this the reason my apps dont automatically go over there. last time i tried to put my apps on sdcard manually, my phone got stuck on the cm7 boot screen everytime i rebooted my phone.

Does the newest cm7 download for metropcs have the mms fix or do you have to set it up like in icarus? will the video camera ever be fixed? i can see that would be the only draw back
