Help Phone shuts off while trying to use internet

My husband surprised me with the HTC EVO 4G so I could keep in touch with the kids & grandkids. I love to browse the net, text, etc., however, the phone just shuts off in the middle of whatever I'm doing. Especially when I try to browse the internet. Very frustrating and am considering taking it back. Not a happy camper at this point. Is there anything that can stop this from happening?

Welcome to the forums! Is it shutting off, or is the screen turning off..as in going to sleep? Just trying to be sure we approach this from the right angle.

What does it take to get it back on again?

If you have to start the phone again, with the whole boot up sequence visible on the screen, then we need to figure out why. If you just have to wake the screen up, then there are several things we can look at to keep the screen awake while you are browsing.

Mine is doing the same thing. It isn't resetting. It is the screen "timeout". Right now I have it set in settings to never close, but it keeps "timing out" at about 10 seconds. Some days it will work fine, other days it just shuts off constantly. I can't even FINISH a text message, and I type fast, before it shuts off.

Did you try restarting your phone or removing apps 1 by 1 until the problem resolves itself?

Hi! I have recently fixed this problem... The cause is that you have a saved wifi with incorrect information (Password). I hope I helped! Thank You!
