Help Hanging up all the time

The only problem I had was that i would always want to see the screen to make sure the person was still talking or switch to speaker...and end up hitting the end button thinking it will make the screen pop up lol.

You can just tap the scroll button and it will flicker back in. once it goes to black tho it's locked.

No I hear it making the noises it makes when the screen is being touched and then it will hang up. It does hang up occasionally when I have it between my head and my shoulder but it'll also hang up if I'm just holding it against my ear.

Could be something wrong with my face detection sensor?

make a call then place your fingertip where the prox sensor is. does the screen go black or stay on?

xD Pretty sure my head is normal but hey, could be wrong!

I'm thinking it is the hardware though...I also have a problem with it sending blank text messages to people. If I send a text to one person it'll send a blank text to another person simultaneously. Loooots of blank text messages sent as a result.

My eris would do this all the time. Especially when I powered on the device. It would page my wife everytime I powered on the phone. No problems after the update, but I thought it was very strange.

My wife is having this problem with her droid. It works fine for me but always does this to her. And it's definitely button presses for her because sometimes she'll hit mute or random numbers on the number pad.
Are there any apps available that would let us lock the screen while making a call? Like it would do it's normal lock, as if our face is next to the screen, and then stay locked off unless we press the top button? I can't seem to find any apps that give me this control.

Another option you can do, I do this, is when you are on the phone call, press the home button and that will keep the phone call on, but make the phone app go off the screen. I do that because I have a skin/phone cover that makes the buttons kind of hard to press, so I downloaded Volume Control by RevoSolutionary Development and I open that and use the slider to change the volume. If the other party hangs up, obviously your phone will hang up. If you are done, you just press the End call or you can press Phone again and then End Call on the phone app.

*NOTE* I've only done this with the phone plugged in and I'm on a call right now, so I don't know if the phone will sleep and then you have to press End call to wake it up, etc. I think someone else said you can press the Trackball to wake it up while on a call, then you won't hang up on accident.

Yes, the trackball will wake it up again and it doesn't need a swipe to unlock either. I just tested.

Well, I still think there must be an app with a setting that could help I'm just missing it. But, thanks for the suggestion, based on your method we're doing something similar except after hitting home she turns on the flashlight app (set as low as it goes) so when she touches the screen all it does is slightly turn the brightness up or down. Thanks!

I'm going to try to go to the Home Screen just before I put the phone on my shoulder. Because it's my face that's "ending" or "muting". For some reason the shift from holding the phone to my ear to placing it on my shoulder and tipping my head lights up the screen. If I'm on the home screen I guess I may start up another app but I don't mind that. As long as it doesn't hang up or mute anymore! I have my phone automatically lock (the dot-pattern thing) so when the call ends I get a shortcut that says "Return to call" and then I "end".

Thanks for the hints!
