Help Galaxy S2 and Mac

iCal/Contacts support direct sync with Google. You'll of course need a Google account (which you'll have to have with your SGS phone), then under prefs in those apps you can sync upstream to Google, then your phone with sync back downstream (probably automatically if you've setup your Google account on your phone already).

Music/media is a little different. You can simply connect your phone, mount it as a USB drive and copy - for example- mp3 files over to it and they'll automatically be picked up by the media scanner (and available in the music player app).

If you want to manage things in a more iTune-like model, you'll need to use something like TuneSync or DoubleTwist which provides sync services to Android via your iTunes library.

Kies Air will work if you have wifi.

It is an app you run on your phone which allows you to access nearly everything on your phone on your computer's web browser. You can also use Google Contacts if you like, this will sync automatically.

Does Kies Air work with a Mac? I thought it didn't.

I can open the screen on my MBP, but I can't download video or pics. It just says I need to 'install Java'.

Hi
I have a Galaxy S2, I was going to buy an Iphone 4, but the bigger screen and better display swayed me,

HOWEVER

I am using it with a macbook pro and I am completely stuck as to how to get my contacts, music etc onto it

any help gratefully accepted

You can manually drag and drop files by going to Settings>Wireless and Network>USB Utilities and then click Connect Storage to PC. Be sure not to plug in your USB cable until after you go through those steps.

No luck with Music!!
When I plug the Galaxy S2, nothing shows up in the drawer. Nor on my Mac Pro's desktop.
WTH!
Can find any step by step guide to this...!
Please help.
When you say it's not showing up on your Mac desktop, Are you mounting the phone on your android. Once you lug in your phone to the mac, you need to enable SD card use on the phone. If you're not doing this that is your problem.Maybe you are??

Finally got my Kies on my MBP to recognize my S2 but it gives me a message that GT-I9100 does not support firmware upgrade?

Anyone understand what that means?...Still on 2.3.3

Hi FC Barca, I noticed you managed to get your sgs2 connected to kies on your macbook pro, could I ask how you managed to do it, I've been trying for months but cannot seem to figure it out, kies keeps telling me my device is not supported. I want to update my firmware, but keep hitting brick walls. Any help getting me connected would be much appreciated.

(Im using a macbook pro(lion) and the latest kies software)

To both FC Barca and monkey,

Kies for mac is AWFUL - even after the updates to its software. It never lets you update firmware, it stalls and freezes when trying to import/export photos, and also there doesn't seem to be an option (unless I'm wrong and someone can correct me here) to disable the 'optimise photo resolution' - which means some photos will be scaled down against your wishes during transfer.

I would recommend you guys do what I do, and create a bootcamp partition (very easy) on your pc and then download the windows version of Kies. SO much better.

Plus if you know where to look this process doesn't necessarily involve any money whatsoever..........
