To screen protect or not? Reason...

I put a zagg on mine. It isnt the greatest. It feels a little tacky. Gonna try something else.glad it was on it though. Putting crushed stone down today,got a text. Pulled it out of pocket dropped face first to stones. Not a scratch...

I have 3 screen protectors that I bought from Ebay. I don't think I'm going to bother putting them on. That being the case, if anyone wants one, first 3 people to PM me a decent joke (inappropriate jokes welcome), I'll send you one. And no 3 jokes doesn't mean you get all 3. Below is the link. Steinheil Anti-Glare is awful. So cloudy. Rainbow effect. and their customer service sucks too. I sent them pictures of how bad it is and they won't give a refund or exchange. Looks like I'll try Boxwave's

I guarantee you will like the boxwave better. However, I have been using the oleophobic screen protector from Steinheil and I couldn't be more happy. The boxwave anti glare does a good job resisting fingerprints and mitigating glare and it feels great but the clarity of the SGP oleophobic film combined with the way it hides/resists fingerprints can't be beat. It took a few days for the surface to feel right but now it's improving with use. I think it hides fingerprints more than resists them but the clarity of the film makes up for it. If you are allergic to fingerprints and don't mind not having a crystal clear screen then I'd go with the boxwave anti-glare. If you value clarity but still want decent finger oil resistance I'd go with the SGP.

Conclusion :

Feel - Boxwave Anti-Glare is awesome to use.

Clarity - SGP Oleophobic wins hands down. The Boxwave has the best clarity of all the films in the anti-glare / anti-fingerprint category but you can still tell it's there.

Anti-Glare - I'd call it a tie, neither is particularly good or bad in this area.

Anti-fingerprint properties - Boxwave wins by a good margin but the SGP is no slouch since it does a good job of hiding fingerprints.

Value - SGP wins because it comes with two for about the same price as a single Boxwave film.

Overall - For me clarity of the SGP makes it a winner for me and my screen protector of choice.

I got the Steinheil Crystal and debated over the Oleophobic (for the exact reasons you posted). The Crystal seems great but you have to really clean the screen very well and make sure no dust particles re-settle on it before you place the film. I had thought I was that careful and after placing the film I could see that 3 or 4 dust particles still somehow got captured under the film. It did come with a 2nd so I could re-do but I really only notice when the screen is off and the glass is under direct light. The crystal image quality is as if there were no film at all. Same goes for feel and actuation - hard to tell it is even there. But, it IS a fingerprint magnet (again, not really visible when screen is illuminated). HOWEVER, the crystal really grabs facial oils when you hold the phone to your face to talk! First time I saw it I did this

So, I rarely actually hold my phone to my face. I have BT in my car and also have a BT headset. After using headsets all around on all phones, I just hate holding phones to talk anymore. so I have not decided if I will replace my film or not. But, if I do, I'll get the Oleophobic.

I currently have Verizon's screen protectors - they do not cover the whole screen. They're pretty clear and feel good but they smudge pretty bad. Maybe it is just my Greek genes :-/

I have the steinhill ultra clear and you can't even tell that you have a screen protector. The downside to this protector is that it tends to get oily with the fingerprints. When you turn on the screen though, you can't notice it.

I bought the pack of 5 from Amazon for like $3.50 shipped. A few bubbles around the edges, but I don't care because I don't touch the edges of the phone anyway. Screen is just as responsive as before. If the cover gets scratched, I can take it off and just put another one on.

(look on ebay and see what people are paying for the nexus one in good condition) so keep the phone in top condition! when i got my replacement phone, it went directly into a case and am waiting for a zagg replacement in the mail. my advice: find a screen protector that you like. i really enjoy the zagg. i like the way it feels. other screens protectors have a dry plasticy feel to them and some only cover the 4.3 inch display rather than the entire glass front of the phone. also, i find the display to be overly sensitive. a display takes away from that sensitivity and makes it perfect imo. in a year(the end of my contract) i'll easily be able to sell my tbolt for enough to buy another phone at upgrade price.

+1 Same exact reason why I use one. When I sold my Droid X the first thing buyers asked was if it had a screen protector.

Because the girl at the store wouldn't shut up about a case, I told her that I'd buy verizon's screen protector if she left me alone. I have tried Verizon's before (DX), and didn't like them, but these were different... different material maybe. And unlike the ones I got for the DX, this pack included a squeegee and microfibre cloth. They are clear and feel good under the finger. I don't even know it is there. Not bad for 3 for 10 bucks.

No, this isn't Gorilla glass to answer the previous post.

I got the same ones and yes, 3 for 10 is not bad for something I don't even notice is there most of the time.
