Droid Charge release delayed due to 4G Outage

Verizon is failing left and right. I'm due for an upgrade and my OG Droid is definitely not cutting it anymore. I'm not sure how long I can wait around for Verizon to pull their heads out of their ass.

I'm considering upgrading RIGHT NOW... to Sprint, that is. They have a habit of releasing phones on time and they actually have good phones in the pipeline. Plus, more importantly, they're the most net-neutral of the big 4 carriers. AT&T is the worst, followed by T-Mo, then Verizon, and Sprint's really at the top of the dogpile in terms of not screwing their customers. They might have slightly worse customer service than Verizon, but how often do I talk to them anyway? I know more about these phones than 99% of the reps do because I'm a member of this forum.

This is bull...

"The amazing iPhone, now available in white" THAT takes precedence over a 4G phone huh.

Also notice how unceremoniously the Droid Incredible 2 was released. No announcement at all. You have to go into the smartphones menu and then it's under the two white iPhone models. I understand that it's not exactly revolutionary, given it's basically the Droid Incredible with a bigger screen and a GSM radio, but that's kind of a bigger deal than the white iPhone 4. Then again, iSheep will believe anything, including the fact that white paint is "amazing".

I swear, carriers go rotten as soon as they get the iPhone. You know what they say, a bad Apple ruins the bunch.

Only option now is to move to Sprint and hope they never make the deal with the devil.

I have a feeling as to why it might have been delayed. Check out the Verizon Wireless website. Notice anything new?

I'm thinking the Charge got pushed back until after the HOLY SHIT THE IPHONE IS WHITE NOW ridiculousness dies out.

That should take a day or two considering nobody cares.

The white iPhone has nothing to do with the delay. I was at my Verizon store at opening this morning to look at the Charge and the gal that knows me from previous purchases told me right away the launch was delayed due to the nationwide LTE collapse. Apparently they cannot activate an LTE phone while the LTE network is down.

Then how do people in NON 4G areas buy and Activate them?

I was gonna came back and say the Incredible 2 still got released today so it cant be because of the white iPhone 4.

I know, it feels good blaming Apple but I dont think it was the iPhone's fault this time...lol

Yeah, i think it's crappy stipulations in their agreement with ifone a-holes that makes them jump through hoops to not hinder ifone sales, this just grinds my gears.

My take...and this is really terrible if true.

4G went down on purpose! VZW did it so that they would have an excuse to delay the Droid Charge, all while the White iPhone has some alone time in the newness category. Let's be real here, its so funny how the timing was spot on, a day before an Android 4G LTE device was to be released, as well as this dumb iPhone. We all know that Apple takes the cake as far as being the most important device on the network right now, everything else is second fiddle. So Obvious!!!

They would not need to take down 4g to do that. They could have used any number of excuses or not say anything and just delay it like they did with the Thunderbolt. Why make your new 4g service look unreliable just because of stupid iphone. I think not.

I had Sprint for over 10 years. The last year I spent 12 hours over the course of 6 months arguing with them over incredibly wrong bills ranging from $1200 bill to $600 credit. It was not fun. Traumatic. Each month I'd have to go through several people before someone was competent enough to understand the billing screwup. They'd swear it was fixed and everything would be ok on the next bill. But instead the next bill would be screwed up in creative new ways.

Heck they kept sending me bills for 6 months after I left them. Not the same bill. Not one amount. No. All sorts of random amounts when I didn't owe anything. Eventually I called them, again, and they somehow straightened it out.

No thanks. I'm not heading back there anytime soon. Not worth my time and effort and stress level.

Wow, that's... horrible. I have a lot of friends on Sprint and their bills are always fine, but I guess YMMV. :(
