Bit surprised there's no thread here about Obama releasing his birth certificate. I had high hopes this would make the birther nutjobs crawl into a hole somewhere and go away. Sadly, that has not happened. They're apparently debating between a) the birth certificate is fake and b) we still need more documentation. It's pure insanity.

McCain was not even born in the US. No one raised a single question about him. Yet Obama is getting all the criticism and now people are saying he needs to release all his school records. Seriously? I'm not an Obama fan at all, but there's no way you can tell me this doesn't have a racial component to it.

Well about McCain, he was technically born in the US. He was born on a military base in, if I remember correctly, Panama. Military bases are US soil. So technically he was born in the US.

I really don't think race has anything to do with this debate about Obama. Its just the fact that even with all this public outcry, very little of his records have been released. It makes people think that something is trying to be hidden from them which makes them draw their own conclusions. This is where conspiracy theories are created. All of this controversy would have been avoided if Obama would have just released all these records back on 2008 when people started asking for them. Instead, he stonewalled everybody then released documents that clearly were not good enough for many people. Then laughed at them when they started asking for more information. His school records would be helpful because, some people would like to know how he did, for example, in economics. It would be nice to know if, at any point, he failed that.

Now, I'm not defending Obama, I have also disliked him since the election and I have not liked hardly anything he has done as president. I'm just tired seeing the race card pulled over every little criticism about Obama. And I blame the media for making us like this. I can't hardly stand to watch the news anymore. The media has made us change the way we think so much that we are constantly afraid of offending someone or having something we say come across as racist. I find myself doing this and honestly it frightens me a little.

Also after reading over this post, I realize it can come across as sort of flameish, I don't intend it this way. I'm just trying to state another point of view. Tone of voice is tricky with a keyboard. Just trying to not make the mods angry.

actually congress passed a resolution declaring him to be a US Citizen after MANY questions about his citizenship.......... I wouldnt exactly call that "no one raised a single question"

If he walked into a post office, he would able to use that certificate to prove his citizenship and get a passport. That was not good enough for birthers. He has now released his long form certificate. That was not good enough for birthers. Now they claim he needs to release his school records. Please tell me another President who has been asked to release this much information. It's freaking insane. It should've stopped with the short form certificate. It should've stopped with the affidavits of the Hawaiian officials. It should stop right here with the long form certificate, but these birthers just refuse to let go. Tell me there's not some racial motivation here.

Obama didn't need to prove he was intelligent in order to win the election obviously. Now, he's got 3 years of job history under his belt that the electorate can judge him on. However, as the poster goes on, the doctor "conveniently" died 8 years ago at the age of 81. 'Cuz people rarely die at the tender age of 81. If only we had a 90 year old man around to testify to something that happened 50 some odd years ago. That would prove everything.

I am waiting for the discussions about his birth certificate being Photo Shopped. Please, no links because I know without looking, such threads exist.

I'll add this thought: if it was proven to be a fake and Obama was not eligible to be our Prez, what happens next?
