Help while on call, my cheek hangs up, mutes etc

I used to have that happen sometimes. Proximity sensor could be just fine. Holding the phone at a slightly different angle could make the phone think it's been pulled away from your face and light up the screen.

Try widgetlocker, it can show the lockscreen during calls. Sometimes it's a bit cumbersome to unlock the device during these calls, but I think it's worth it (with what it prevents).

I noticed the same thing in phone calls. If I adjust the way I hold the phone on my ear the screen will go off. Its mainly the fact that the speaker grill is so wide
