I was just about to post a link about this to.

Well, I think Sprint want customers to be able to get this device and sale as much as possible. I also think that's why they pushed the instant rebates back to June. I wonder if that's right before this is released or after. Anybody would love instants for their new device. I think this is a really nice phone but I don't want it.

It's hard to get excited about this news. After all, it's not like you can get the phone earlier than the launch date. And we still don't have any new info about the phone itself since CTIA.

It's kinda interesting only to see how Best Buy Corporate words their notices to the franchises.

Plenty of companies do pre-orders on hardware (and even software) before there is an official release date. They also tend to oversell their stock...

That said, there was a certain someone that had mentioned the March 2 date... those who need to know, already know what I am talking about. At the very least, this would be an interesting coincidence.

You get it from Best Buy means you get their crappy insurance plan. No thanks. Sprint insurance beats out Best Buy customer satisfaction wise 10 times over.

i agree Sprints insurance is much better. Although, you can buy your phone at BestBuy then call Sprint and add the Sprint/Asurion insurance, I've done this twice now. I believe you have 30 days from purchase to call Sprint and add it. Actually, I think BB can even add Sprints insurance for you, now that I think about it.

Yes, it is a $50 gift certificate. No idea what the final cost will be, I am hoping it will be priced the same as the EVO but that is still to be seen.

Thank you original poster for posting this thread and Thank you swnic for confirming the gift card bit. I have not decided that the Evo 3D is the phone I necessarily want/need yet, and one major benefit I see is that I can pre-order it and ensure I get a handset without being tied down. If I decide I do not want the Evo 3D nearer to the release date I can just spend the gift card on anything else I need at their store. Also I would like to view/demo this new Evo 3D in my own hands before I fully purchase it, where as with the Evo 4G I was literally sold on it when it was still just a rumor.

(For my own sake I just want to get my ideas out on paper)
I haven't decided that I even WANT/NEED a new phone yet. But since my Evo has an overheating problem I'm really liking the idea of a dual core processor and a nicer screen, plus a few other odds and ends and new HTC Sense with up to date version of Android.

At this point I really do not want 3D anything. The whole 3D band wagon can drive right off a cliff as far as I am concerned. The 3D phone realization will be a huge disappointment to many I can guarantee as it will not be what they are expecting.

My biggest disappointment is that there are dual rear cameras. I would much rather have a single rear camera with a much bigger better sensor. I realize that these newer 5MP sensors may take a little better quality (color, light, tone) photos than the Evo 4G, yet I believe that the more pixels that can be captured the better (you can do amazing things when you compress them down and edit the color and tone in post processing). Instead of 2 average 5MP sensors they could have put on a bigger/newer/nicer 8MP sensor or used the saved resources of having only one rear camera to upgrade to the new 12MP sensor.

Anyone ever returned a phone to Best Buy? How did that go?

Their return policy online seems to say that it's 30 days, and that there's no mention of a restocking fee. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with it and could confirm.

Don't think I'll need to, but always like to check (Since Sprint has touted their 30 day no questions asked type policy for a while now.)

I picked up an EVO Shift at BB for the wife a while back and after two weeks she decided she didn't like it and wanted an EVO instead. I took it back and traded up for the EVO. They did not charge me a restocking fee, just the extra $50 for the EVO. I believe since they are an extention of Sprint that they have to honor the 30 day no charge thing.

Didn't sprint charge a $35 fee for returning a phone for another?

They ahve a return fee; but so does sprint (I think). I did a pre-order on the droid-x; it was a bust even though I was first they had no stock; i ended up 'returning' the preorder (i.e, getting my money back) and kept my non-data sprint phone. The rebate thing is the biggest plus for bestbuy (rumor is that sprint is going back to mail in rebate after May 7th).

I'm premier gold (even though I dont' have a data phone) due to longevity so I think I'll wait and see if sprint offers an early pre-order. Still I sort of hope the galaxy s2 comes out first (i'm worried about the evo3d battery life and I know the s2 is very light and will work well outside in bright light - still if this comes out first i will go with it).

Drat you beat me to the punch; I too received an email. However, I wonder about the ethics of this approach without providing either a release date or final cost. Sure we're take your money; you can always ask for it back but it might be a year or two before there is a product and by the way it'll cost you 10 grands when it is available but none the less come on in and give us your money :)

this is no longer a secret. i received an email about this earlier this AM.
