Target Discount $40 off Coupon code inside

After taxes and shipping it works out to be a couple dollars less than retail. Not really worth it unless you have a Target Red Card, Discover or using some other rebate type site like Mr Rebates.

This Target deal dropped the total tablet cost over $40 for me so I went for it. I had an order in at Amazon, but with that order I had to pay state sales tax anyway as the Amazon provider was Target and there are Target stores in my state. Shipping from Target was a little cheaper.

My Amazon final cost with tax/shipping $428.23
My Target final cost with tax/shipping $386.16

Total savings over Amazon $42.07

sorry, but if it's target either way it just makes sense to order direct from target to take advantage of whatever rebates/coupons/card discounts they offer. It's not like you had a preorder direct through amazon to begin with to compare. If you were preordering through amazon when they had the link up you'd be at $400. As I said, the average person isn't saving much. Makes no sense to preorder something from amazon through someone else when you can just wait for amazon to offer direct preorders again or even B&H Photo who'll let you preorder now at $400 with free shipping[/url]. With varying tax and shipping you save $14. But you still left almost $16 on the table by not using Mr Rebates to save another 4%. Would get you around $30 off then.

Yep, ordered direct via Target yesterday. Saved about $46 vs ordering via Amazon (which is also through Target).

I noticed the 16GB Trans is showing up in Target's site search results now (it wasn't before). Says "Coming Soon". Hopefully they start fulfilling shipments within a couple weeks.

my Target order got cancelled by them today!

Unfortunately, the following item is not currently available from any of our sources.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1" Android Tablet (TF101-A1) with 16GB Hard Drive, 1GB Memory - Black/Brown

We have cancelled this item from your order.

WTF? Since when do they decide how long I am willing to wait on a back order?

all this accomplishes is that it allows me to look at and consider other products since Asus botched this so badly. this means that in the end, I might find something else or decide to wait more if someone announces a new offering... heck, I might go back to considering that Toshiba that is suppose to drop soon as they are very comparable, but it has more USB and card slots and they mention a keyboard and has user replaceable battery.

I called Target and they said my order wasnt actually cancelled but what they sent was more of a notification as to they don't actually know when they will have them in stock, but if you go into your account on target.com you will still see it is open. But who really knows when your talking to an India call center.

Yes, EXACTLY what happened to me too....totally SUX.

i just placed an order with J&R but who knows, same thing may happen with that online order as well (sigh).

Watch out with J&R. They were a joke with the Archos 101. They kept saying it will ship, every week and it never did until almost two months later. Do not believe them until the product actually ships.

I am glad it worked out that way, since I canceled the 101 and did not get stuck with its low ram and low storage space.

yeah, I had actually logged into my account and it still shows it is active - I just assumed the online store data had not caught up with some other database that generated the email.

Thanks for the headsup....will keep a lookout for other "available" tablets

Sorry for riding the slow bus, but what does this all mean exactly for guys like you and I who ordered it through Target?

frankly, I dont know yet. The email says it has been cancelled, the actual online account order indicates no such thing. So, not sure if it was some sort of cover-their-ass move or if the website has just not caught up yet with the real world.

I did send them an email and asked them whats up. no response yet of course.

for me, I assume it has been cancelled BUT I do not want to order online from a lessor online retailer as if I hate the thing, I love the idea of driving to target and returning it. You cant do that with some of these online sellers and some have real limited return policies.

For me, I will be more annoyed if they get it later and we cant use the $40 off coupon at that time. another bonus with them was this $40 off.
