Root SMS message w/ new VM?!

Hey folks,

Did some googling on this topic but nothing that's helped with rooted EVO on Fresh 3.5.0.1.

This just started happening like a week ago and it's annoying as hell. I've been rooted for well over two months now.

I use GO SMS over the stock app but have contacted the to find out if it was a new setting or something... it's not.

Tried uninstalling GO but get the same result with the stock app.

Anyone know how to shut this off?

Is it the message from 9016 saying you have a new voicemail? You can block it on sprints website in your my accounts area or you can use a number of call blocking apps


Otherwise give us more details about what you are refering to

Yes, that's it.

But why all of a sudden? I had a Hero before the EVO and up until a couple of weeks ago, this didn't happen.

This happened to me on my Hero when I flashed AOSP 9.9.2. I did the call block and all was well. No idea why it would start all of the sudden, maybe one of the gurus has a better idea.

Make sure you're not actually blocking the 9016 text if you use Sprint Visual Voicemail app. The Sprint VVM is tied to those 9016 text messages. In order for you to be notified that you have new vm you need to be able to receive those texts. You can use an app like RedList, Handcent, or Super Conversation to filter those text messages. It will allow you to receive the texts but won't notify you of them. That way you can still find out if you have a new VM.

I didn't realize when I was on the hero that this was the reason notifications stopped for VM. I never figured that one out before I got the evo. I assume this is the same if I flash CM or MIUI?

Are you getting text notifications or the v30 error? You might have to clear data and try and reprovision it.

I think what you have to do is use another text messaging app(like handcent) and then disable your notifications for the stock messaging app and the then redlist it......my guess

...and then you have to go into redlists settings and disable any notification or you will get a little red dot in the notification bar!!!

Wait so you are getting a notification in the top of your screen that says you have new voicemail and it isn't actually a text message? I guess I am confused but that sounds like how it is supposed to work.

I get an additional notification on top of my stock VM status bar notification. This second notification is coming from my text messaging application, but it's not a retrievable text.

LOL you are giving me a headache j/k How about this since so many of us cant actually figure what you are referring to, take a screen shot with shoot me when it appears and load it up here so we can see it if you need go ahead and compose a vm to yourself so it appears...
