BATON ROUGE LA
Well folks, I ended up jumping ship. I guess i got tired of waiting. Wait for an update, waiting for decent games with good graphics, waiting for good useful apps that do what i need, waiting for the lag to go away, waiting for a better typing keyboard, waiting untill i get all of my calls and all of my texts...just waiting. I ended up getting the end all of phones. I always knew in the back of my mind it was better in so many ways, and after playing with it for a couple days, I wish i had not even wasted my time with anything else. Sorry guys, I joined the iphone club. This is a great site, with a great bunch of people that are willing and able to help others with their problems. Heck if i wouldnt have joined, i wouldnt know half of what i do with hero. So thanks Guys! and good luck on the android road! hope the update fixes all the quirks of the phone.

I was under the impression we had already beat the Iphone. At least, that's the impression I get from my sister and brother-in-law, who both have the newest Iphone's, and would much rather have an Android phone, but are stuck for another two years in their contract. Doesn't help that AT&T has absolutely NO service in our area, and there's not exactly an ability to roam with it.

Man honestly they both have their downfalls. heres my take:
because you only run 1 app at a time, the iphone is super smooth and fast. the scrolling is so much smoother and responsive. Key board is easier to type on because the screen is bigger. The games are much better. Seems like everything the phone is asked to do, it does alot faster than my hero except the internet. They are about the same. i have a 16gb 3gs by the way. The apps are more indepth on the iphone. for example: I have a work out app on my hero and iphone, both were free and probably the best offered for free for both. The hero's app is bare bones notepadish and you have to keep going back and forth between a bunch of screens. the one on the iphone is thought out much better, can access everything from one screen and it even has animated images to show you the workout.

things i miss about my hero:
-the email/text notification led
-the feel and size of the phone, i really like the kind of rubbery feel to it
-Being able to swap the battery
-being able to tether without jailbreaking
-the customization (which i didnt use much, but was pretty cool)
and prolly some other stuff i forgot
I think the hero has potential, but i think its going to be a while before the apps become as nice as the iphone. Dont think i'm downing you guys with hero's, cause im not. It really is one of the better phones, I just dont like how so many processes run at one time slowing it to a crawl sometimes.

enjoy your brand new.......expensive-ass phone/data plan

but GL and hope u have a better experience than u had with your Android
lol, its costing me $40 a month vs. $120 a month for sprint. I paid $200 for the iphone, and i'll sell the hero for that. I know your wondering how $40 or thinking B.S., well i'm the only one in my family with sprint, the rest habe at&t, so i got added on the family plan for 9.99 for an extra line, and $30 for the unlimited data/text package=$40 free mobile to mobile. I dont have any friends that dont have att, so i wont use too many minutes. plus we has 1500 anytime a month plus 4500 rollover minutes.

lol :)

I dont mean to sound like i'm bashing on the hero, cause i'm not. I like the phone, dont get me wrong, but i got bored really quick with it.

Ehhh, i dunno if you could say that anything has the iphone beat just yet, in a few areas yes. hands down, no. the customization is really kool on the hero. you can do it on the iphone, just not as easy. apple doesnt want you doing much customizing without spending money with them. the android platform is a lil more open.

Actually I was wondering how you paid $120 a month for Sprint. Isn't unlimited everything $99?

If you add insurance and taxes it comes in about 120 a month. My bill was that before I added the Mifi to it.

the Iphone is a great device. It has drawbacks for sure but so does the Hero. The reason I could never own an Iphone has nothing to do with the Iphone at all, its ATT they are just awful.

But Good Luck with your new Iphone.

You beat me to the answer, i did have insurance and for some reason they added some 9.99 unlimited navigation service they said i must have for the hero. Well at&t actually works better in my area than sprint. But i did once go into the middle of nowhere land 4 wheeler riding and sprint worked where nothing else did. But i really cant base that experience on my situation. that was a one time ordeal and i'll probably never go back. Its funny how some people are so one sided. Like said earlier, they both have their drawbacks. I just know this, the iphone was here before the hero, and i'm pretty sure it will still be here after the hero (no offense hero guys) I know this rang true when they were trying to compare the samsung instinct to the iphone...they named it as iphone killer! lol. To think I left alltel to get the instinct because i didnt want to jump on the iphone bandwagon...but you do have to admit...the iphone has been extremely sucessful. Can you think of any other phone that has outsold it?

I agree. My step-son sells phones for AT&T. Their coverage sucks in my area, and I wouldn't consider moving to them - ever. I do agree, the iPhone has some cool stuff, but another poster said it - Apple doesn't do anythign for free. And Android is catching up quickly. Look at the cloud computing you can get with the Hero, Gmail and Google Sync - you would pay $100 a year for that privilege with the iPhone and AT&T.

I don't understand coming on an Android forum, and telling everyone you left for an iPhone. I had BlackBerry for years, and became quite the expert on it, and gave a lot of advice to folks over at Crackberry. When I got rid of my pos BlackBerry Tour, and got this Droid, I didn't bother going back over there and telling everyone what lousy phone BlackBerry makes, and that I'm so much happier.

You're either being a jerk, or you aren't confident in your decision and need assurance, which of course you won't find here LOL.

I pay $160 for 3 lines with "Everything Data Share" including TEP for each device + Family Locator + all the other goodies that come with it. No other carrier can even come close to that.

Let's face it, I doubt there will ever be an end-all be-all phone. I've been looking for it for a long time now. It doesn't exist now, and probably never will. There's aways something "new" coming. Look how fast computer technology changes, doubles every 18 months or so. If you're a tech junkie like me, I'm constantly upgrading my PC just to stay somewhat ahead, and I'm like that with just about everything including phones.

I think the device manufacturers intentionally leave things off just to keep us coming back for more. What's the purpose of giving us a 5MP camera, but no flash for it? and I'm not talking just about the Hero, there are a few devices that have a high end camera, yet no flash? Why you say? Because they'll add it with the next device, then take away something else we already had, and so on, and so on. The circle nevers stops, round and round we go, forking out cash like crazy..

But, anyway, to the orginal OP, good luck with your iPhone. I truly hope it is your end all be all device, but for some reason I don't think it will be.

Read post 10.

No I wasn't trying to be a jerk. But I see your point. I guess I'm a forum junkie and I like to express my opinion, sorry.

Ah, Sorry missed that one. Hell, I don't care for the iPhone but for $80 a month savings I'd hop back on ATT and pick up a blackberry or something. Can't say I blame you...I just left ATT because I had so many problems with dropped calls and Sprint was much cheaper for me.

I didn't feel like you were bashing the Hero. People should use what works for them. If the iPhone works better for you, then you made the right decision. And you don't have to justify that decision to anyone. Good luck to you.

I dont like the fact that i have to jail break my iphone to be able to tether...and i probably cant tether at my house anyway. the internet speed on the iphone seriously blows compared to my hero at home. the hero is at least 4 times faster. there's always a trade off as i'm finding out. now i have a great phone with sucky service...lol
