First off I run velocity 1.1 but I think I first noticed this with 1.0

When the phone display initially goes black/asleep, you used to be able to hit the menu key to wake it up before it went into the complete lock but I have noticed the phone no longer responds to the menu key so I have to use volume or call buttons which is rather annoying. Anyone?

I really think you need to go back to a stock ROM or consider a different phone if it annoys you that much. It's nitpicking like this that makes people not want to develop for Ally anymore.

Thank you for your complete lack of a solution. My point of posting this was not to bitch and complain about velocity, because in fact it is an Awesome piece of work. My point was to make someone aware of the fact if it is a widespread issue, and if so, find a solution if one was available. I do not need accusations of my ungratefulness.

The problem with the menu key not working to wake up the display is the fact that the screen you are viewing will change completely if you use the end key or call buttons.

If you are not terribly partial to the Launcher2 I would suggest using an alternative launcher application, I know ADW will allow you to set other buttons to wake the phone. Also widgetlocker will work, there are most likely a few more as well
